Kafwaya seeks court order over detention!

Former Lunte Member of Parliament Mutotwe Kafwaya has asked the Lusaka High Court for leave to commence habeas corpus proceedings over his continued detention.

The application has been filed by his wife, Dinis Ng’andu Kafwaya, who says her husband remains in custody without, to the best of her knowledge, having been brought before a court of competent jurisdiction.

She says the matter is urgent and is seeking the court’s permission to file the habeas corpus application and accompanying documents during the current Michaelmas vacation, arguing that any delay could further prejudice Mr Kafwaya and undermine the protection of his liberty.

NEVER GIVE UP ‼️

The ship sank to the bottom of the Atlantic. Rescuers expected to find only bodies. Then a diver entered the wreck—and a pair of terrified eyes suddenly appeared in his flashlight beam.
On May 26, 2013, Nigerian cook Harrison Okene was working aboard the tugboat Jascon-4 off the coast of Nigeria.

The vessel was supporting an oil operation when the weather suddenly turned dangerous.

Huge waves battered the boat.

Then disaster struck.

The tugboat capsized and sank into the Atlantic Ocean.

Harrison was inside.

The ship disappeared beneath the surface, sinking roughly 30 meters underwater.

For Harrison, everything happened in darkness.

He desperately tried to escape.

But the ship had already turned upside down.

Water rushed through the vessel.

Harrison managed to find his way into a small bathroom.

An air pocket had formed inside.

That tiny pocket of air became his only chance.

He was trapped inside the wreck.

Outside, the Atlantic Ocean surrounded him.

There was no way to swim to the surface.

No way to call for help.

No way for anyone above the water to know he was still alive.

Meanwhile, rescue divers were sent down to search the wreck.

They were looking for survivors.

But the conditions were terrifying.

The water was dark.

Visibility was extremely poor.

The wreck was unstable.

And the divers had limited time because they were breathing from specialized equipment.

For nearly three days, Harrison remained trapped.

He had no food.

He had almost no water.

He was cold and frightened.

He had no idea whether anyone knew he was still alive.

Then, on the third day, divers returned to the wreck.

One diver entered the dark interior.

His flashlight moved through the wreckage.

Then something moved.

The diver stopped.

He looked again.

There was a human face.

Harrison was alive.

The moment was captured on the diver's helmet camera.

The footage later became one of the most extraordinary underwater rescue images ever recorded.

Harrison reached toward the diver.

The rescuer grabbed his hand.

But getting him out was not simple.

Harrison had spent almost three days at depth.

Bringing someone rapidly to the surface after prolonged exposure to pressure can be extremely dangerous.

So the rescuers had to move him through a carefully controlled decompression process.

He was transferred into a diving bell and gradually brought toward the surface.

Eventually, Harrison emerged from the water.

Alive.

After nearly three days trapped inside a sunken ship, he had survived.

Doctors treated him for the effects of his time underwater, including decompression sickness.

But the story had already become something extraordinary.

The rescuers had descended expecting to recover victims from a shipwreck.

Instead, deep inside the darkness, they discovered a man who had been waiting for someone to find him.

Harrison later explained that he had spent those days praying and trying to remain calm.

He had no idea whether the outside world knew he was alive.

Then a light appeared.

A diver entered the darkness.

And Harrison saw another human being for the first time in days.

The diver's camera recorded the unbelievable moment when Harrison's face appeared from the darkness.

It looked almost unreal.

A human being trapped inside a sunken ship.

Three days underwater.

And still alive.

His survival was not simply about luck.

It was also about finding that tiny pocket of air and remaining alive long enough for rescuers to reach the wreck.

The ocean had swallowed the ship.

But it had not taken Harrison.

For three days, he waited in darkness.

2. They could achieve this majority by adding 11 MPs nominated by the President and 60% more MPs from the 40 allocated by proportional representation.
3. The MP results are compiled by News Diggers, and include Nkeyema Constituency won by UPND, despite an independent candidate's death before the election.

MBALA MAYOR-ELECT DIES SIX DAYS AFTER ELECTIONs

Mbala District has been plunged into mourning following the death of newly elected mayor Steward Simutenda, who passed away in the early hours of today, just six days after being elected.

Mr Simutenda, who contested the mayoral election on the NRPUP ticket, reportedly died after an illness.

The newly elected mayor had been hospitalised about a week before Thursday’s elections after falling ill. Despite his health challenges, he on participated in the election and was subsequently elected mayor of Mbala.

His death comes less than a week after the election, cutting short what would have been his tenure in office.

Further details surrounding his death and funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by his family and relevant authorities.

The death of Simutenda has sent shockwaves through Mbala, with residents and political supporters expected to pay tribute to the late mayor-elect in the coming days.
