Mumbi questions caliber of HH's diplomats for calling other citizens fools, and asking juniors to shave their private parts

Former PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri has questioned the calibre of President Hakainde Hichilema's diplomatic appointments, for asking their own junior staff to shave their private parts and referring to fellow nationals they are supposed to serve as fools.

And Phiri said her longtime friendship with Zambia's Ambassador to Sweden Gladys Nundwe has broken down after the latter referred to her as a fool, and prayed that her job would keep her forever as they had "always looked after each other."

Speaking with Daily Revelation, Phiri said she was shocked that a diplomat could use words such as foolish to describe fellow nationals she was supposed to be serving.

"Can she look after me if I went to Sweden when she's thinking of me as PF? Can she? And I am a fellow woman, she can call a fellow woman, a mother, a grandmother like her, me I am somebody's wife unlike her, how does my husband feel for a fellow woman to be calling me foolish?" Phiri said. "Me when I was a diplomat, I fought for Ngoma when he was abducted in South Sudan. Ngoma, is it Nelson Ngoma, who is in the national management committee for UPND? I fought for his release he can attest to that. Because as a diplomat, at the diplomatic school I was taught not to be partisan."

She questioned the calibre of President Hakainde Hichilema's diplomats who were openly showing themselves as UPND members.

"What type of diplomats are they? Ba Hakainde why are picking useless people who are embarrassing you? ... What type of diplomats are these who can go and ask a local employee to shave their private parts, while Nundwe is calling us fellow citizens, honourables, former diplomats, me and (George) Chulumanda, as

Bring Simwinji, Mutaba, Shaabula closer to HH for defending him against 'fools' like Mumbi Phiri, urges Zambia's Ambassador to Sweden

Zambia's Ambassador to Sweden Gladys Nundwe has urged UPND secretary general Batuke Imenda to draw certain party members closer to the President for standing up for him against "PF fools" such as Mumbi Phiri.

But Nundwe said she had apologised both on the group and via phone calls to Phiri and George Chulumanda as the message was not meant to be sent on the group but to Imenda.

Nundwe's message was said to have been posted in the WhatsApp group for former members of parliament. A member in the group said after Nundwe had posted the message in the group, she immediately deleted it, but it had already been captured by others who reposted the same message back.

The member said Nundwe had mistakenly posted the message in the 'Former members of parliament' WhatsApp group thinking she was sending the same to Imenda.

In the subject message shared with Daily Revelation, Nundwe suggested certain names of individuals which must be brought closer to the party and the President.

"Good morning, SG. Today, I want not only to bring it to your attention but also to request you to embrace Honourables Edgar Keembe, Hebert Shaabula, Olsen Mutaba, and Simwinji Simwinji. Please SG bring these people more close to the party and to the President himself. These people are

Uptick in electricity supply

Utility company ZESCO Limited this week told Daily Revelation that there has been an improvement in power supply in the country owing to increased imports, water flow in some catchment areas and President Hakainde Hichilema’s recent visit to Zimbabwe. The utility company revealed that they have increased electricity imports from around 300 megawatts to over 600 megawatts.

Generally, most Zambians have testified that there has been an improvement in areas where they reside, where many are saying they are enjoying at least 10 hours of electricity supply daily.

This is welcome news to the millions of Zambians who are now able to breath a sigh of relief, even if that is still far far less than the time spent in darkness by 14 hours. 10 hours actually seems miraculous as this is the most Zambians have enjoyed in terms of electricity supply in over two years. The improvement is highly welcome and we are sure that the utility company will work towards improving the hours of supply as the country moves into the new year.

But some have rightly questioned the timing of the same uptick in supply, barely 9 months before the nation goes to the polls in August 2026. They argue that the government has had all the time to improve the situation in the country but was only finding solutions now.

If ZESCO is saying that the presidential trip to Zimbabwe has helped to resolve matters, one would wonder why such an important trip wasn't embarked upon much earlier given the severity of the blackouts in the country, especially given the closer proximity of Zimbabwe and its people to Zambia. Why was the presidential trip only embarked upon now, given the toll order this load has had, where many, especially small businesses, which rely heavily on electricity have suffered distress during this whole period, and economic activity despite the government indicating improvements could actually have been aided further to improve the socio and economic situation in the country?

It is very saddening if ZESCO and government's move on this improvement is being motivated by the coming elections in 2026, because when people elect their representatives in office the expectation is that those representatives will work for them from the very first day in office as opposed to narrowing development towards election periods, which appears more like an effort meant

REFUSE SHINGA BUTTER, REMEMBER 3-YRS OF BLACKOUTS - KALABA.. Improvement in electricity supply is because of 2026 elections, and if HH wins you will be going for 2 weeks without power

By Mubanga Mubanga

Citizens First (CF) leader Harry Kalaba has described the improvement in electricity supply across the country as nothing but 'shinga butter' meant to hoodwink Zambians that there is an improvement in electricity supply as the nation heads towards the 2026 general elections.

And Kalaba said if elected he would immediately stop foreign exports of energy to have an immediate impact on supply, and revive works on the construction of the nuclear power plant in Chongwe that would produce 20,000 megawatts, to also cater for exports.

Kalaba said providing only 10 hours of electricity out of the 24 hours is not something any government should be proud of in a nation where people pride themselves in enjoying uninterrupted supply.

ZESCO Ltd has attributed the improved electricity supply experienced in the last five days to increased imports, water flow in some catchment areas and President Hakainde Hichilema’s recent visit to Zimbabwe. The utility company revealed that they have increased electricity imports from around 300 to over 600 megawatts.

But in an interview with Daily Revelation yesterday, Kalaba wondered why the government failed to move speedily on the same arrangements that could have helped the nation dearly in the last three years the country had

Kapiri families were threatened to sell land for peanuts after Chinese investor used President's name - Farmer

One of the farmers whose farm is affected by the construction of a dry port in Kapiri Mposhi, says the Chinese investors told the farmers that they must quickly surrender their farms as the dry project was a project of the President.

Kapiri Mposhi Council chairperson Brilliant Munyeke this week told Daily Revelation that the Chinese investor had spent K4.62 million to compensate 30 families who had been displaced in readiness for the construction of a dry port in Kapiri Mposhi.

But describing the K4.62 million as too little for the huge lands they held, in an interview with Daily Revelation yesterday, one of the affected farmers

The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) has cautioned members against campaigning for any political party or candidate, nor allow partisan political messages during services head of the 2026 general elections.

And the Church has urged the government to listen to concerns raised by various stakeholders on Bill 7 with humility and discernment.

What's the problem with just releasing details of the delimitation?

We are wondering what is in this delimitation of constituencies which the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and those in government have kept closer to their chests, far away from Zambians, as if they are hiding ilomba.

We have a nation right now that is deeply discussing the contents of the Bill 7 which is already before Parliament, and now the Technical Committee Report has presented its report.

The Technical Committee appointed by President Hakainde Hichilema to look into the Constitutional amendments has actually proposed that constituency held seats must be increased from 156 to 226. And when appearing before a parliamentary committee to address the same report, Technical Committee vice-chairperson Landilani Banda said that delimitation was one of the topics that received a lot of submissions. But the same committee has also recommend that the same must be handled transparently, which goes counter to everything Hichilema and his officials in government have been doing.

However, during his recent lamentations at State House where he claimed that he was being opposed on his narrow interests on the constitution because of the region he hailed from, Hichilema gave a clear hint of what might be contained in the same delimitation, when he, applying the same regional perspective on matters, claimed that previous delimitations favoured certain regions. Whether that is true or not, we leave it for people to judge. But the idea is that since Hichilema has convinced himself in his mind that it happened before, he would want to use the same as a pretext

We can't allow toll fees on the busy Lusaka-Ndola road to be collected by a foreign entity for 25 years - Kalaba

Citizens First (CF) leader Harry Kalaba says they would renegotiate the contract entered into between the UPND administration and Macro Ocean Investment Consortium, which has allowed the foreign entity to collect toll fees on the busy Lusaka-Ndola dual carriage way for 25 years.

In a press statement made available today, Kalaba argued that Zambia was among the countries with the busiest roads in the entire Southern African region, with the National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) having indicated that they collected K4 billion in toll fees in 2024 alone.

"Zambia is among the countries with the busiest roads in the entire Southern African region. We in the CF believe that our capacity to generate revenue from our roads can be increased without placing any added financial burden on our citizens. This is especially true when it comes to our toll gates," Kalaba stated. "The National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) collects most tolls nationwide, but the so called “new dawn” has handed over the operation of major toll points on the Lusaka–Ndola dual carriageway, to a private foreign consortium known as Macro Ocean Investment Consortium. This arrangement made by the “new dawn” gives a foreign company the right to build and operate a major national road and earn from our toll gates for a total of 25 years. The agreement includes 3 for construction and 22 years in which the consortium will operate, maintain and collect toll revenue from that road. This means that foreign interests will continue earning a large share of revenue from our roads until the year 2048.

He argued that with proper planning, the levels of revenue NRFA was collecting was more than enough to support the construction of factories, power projects and large industrial parks.

Mining firm demands investigation over mine licence reinstated by Kabuswe to another company

Golden Rock Resources Zambia Limited has lodged a formal appeal to Mines minister Paul Kabuswe, demanding the reinstatement of a mining licence that he allegedly issued to another company.

In an appeal letter dated September 08, 2025 by GoldenRock director Wang Yaunshan and addressed to Kabuswe, the company argued that they were launching a "strong appeal" against the recent termination of their small scale exploration licence No. 40535-HQ-SEL, granted to GoldRock Resources Zambia Limited.

He argued that their appeal was based on clear provisions within the Mines and Minerals Development Act and the established principles of the First-Come, First-Served basis governing the Mining Cadastre system.
