DEAR, ASPIRING CANDIDATES FOR THE MATERO CONSTITUENCY,

We love and appreciate you, and you inspire us to learn more from your generous hearts that we see when you campaign for the election. We always wish that this generosity could continue forever after you have won.

However, let’s change the game and do things differently. Many of you aspiring candidates often come with one strategy: Sponsoring a FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT. While this is commendable and supports our youth, it is where your efforts typically end. There are many other things you can do that would benefit not only the young boys who participate but also young girls, as well as our mothers, fathers, and grandparents.

Why is it so difficult to establish something permanent in our community that would benefit everyone? For example, in the Matero constituency, particularly in the Mwembeshi ward, we have a small clinic post (Chimwemwe) that operates only from 8 AM to 4 PM. Imagine the stress people face when they need to visit a clinic or hospital. This facility is so limited that women cannot even deliver there. Think about the challenges they encounter when they are about to give birth; they must travel all the way to George Clinic or Matero Level One Hospital, often on poorly maintained roads that cab drivers refuse to navigate, especially late at night.

As residents of the Matero constituency, we need you to help us find lasting solutions to our daily problems and challenges. We hear about the increased CDF money, so we urge you, as future leaders, to advocate for the expansion of the Chimwemwe clinic. If it means purchasing nearby houses to facilitate this, please do so, and ensure the clinic operates 24/7.

Dear Alexander Mumba Sakala (Our upcoming MP for MATERO CONSTUENCY)

I am writing to bring to your attention a significant challenge we are facing in the Eden Barlastone area of the Metero Constituency. The water you see here has never dried up, regardless of the season.

The road in question starts at the Abu Dhabi Night Club along Eden University Road, directly opposite the club, and continues straight to UCZ. This persistent water source flows all the way from UCZ to the Abu Dhabi main road tarmac, covering a distance of about 2 kilometers.

This situation has made it extremely difficult for us, the road users and drivers in this area. We rely on this road daily, and many vehicles have been damaged due to the conditions. Large stones have been placed along the road in an attempt to prevent cars from getting stuck.

Today, I investigated the source of this continuous water flow and discovered that it originates from a fish pond in Anderson Yard, which is near UCZ Church. This is why the water never dries up.

I find it concerning that the councillor for this ward has not followed up with the owner of the fish pond to address this issue. It is essential that a drainage solution be created to direct the water properly and prevent further damage to the road.

I kindly appeal to you to assist us in investigating the reason for this ongoing water flow and in creating a lasting solution to this problem.
