ROAD REHABILITATION PROJECT FLAGS OFF IN KANYAMA

9th November, 2022 - Lusaka

A CONSTITUENCY Development Fund (CDF) Road Rehabilitation Project has been flagged off in Kanyama Constituency of Lusaka District.

Speaking during the flagging off of the project yesterday, Kanyama Constituency Member of Parliament Honourable Monty Chinkuli said the overall target of the project was to uplift the 111-kilometers road network in Kanyama Constituency to bituminous standard, of which road-grading constitutes project activities.

Mr Chinkuli said the project will begin with economic roads focusing on problem areas such as potholes and those portions that become impassable, especially now in the rainy season. He said that the first road to be done will be Lucky Chance Road that connects Mungwi and Mumbwa roads.

The United Party for National Development (UPND) Kanyama Lawmaker disclosed that this is an on-going project and the contractor engaged to undertake the works is the Zambia National Service (ZNS).

According to a BOQ from Lusaka City Council (LCC), the total cost of the project is K291 million. Mr Chinkuli says he hopes to lobby for more funding from stakeholders and well-wishers, including the ministries of Local Government and Rural Developent as well as Infrastructure Developent to complement CDF.

After taking over GOVERNMENT in August last year, the UPND under the able leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema raised CDF from K1.6 million to K25.7 million and it has been increased further to K28.3 million in the 2023 National Budget. Following the massive CDF increment, the country has continued witnessing numerous projects in a great deal of constituencies.

Dearest Lusaka Residents,

TIPS FOR SAFETY

1. Dont move aimlessly both during the Day or Night.

2. If you are not sure of address of place you are looking for, dont risk arriving at a house you are not sure of. Get police help at that point.

3. Avoid carrying on you any pesticide or chemicals be it liquid or spray medicine or insecticide like boom, target or any liquid or fluid form contents for any usage and more not in the night. For medical and health preventative needs, acquire during the day and from reputable sources.

4. If you have to spray your backyard gardens, try using natural organic remedies like ash but if have to buy pesticide, I suggest you get a nearby Police consent atleast for now.

5. Quit those awkward hours Road Runs or Gym workouts. For now do it around lunch time hours. Also try home based workouts for now.

6. Avoid moving in groups both in the day and at night.

7. Taxi drivers avoid carrying passengers who are not sure of their destination. If that happens, drop them at a nearest police station to their destination.

8. Avoid spreading stories or rumours you are not 100% sure are factual.
