This Morning at the National Writers Association of Zambia Launch & Book Fair 📚

ZARRSO had the pleasure of being invited to the National Writers Association of Zambia launch and Book Fair held this morning at Government Complex.
As stakeholders in the literary fraternity, we were honoured to exhibit and connect with the writing community. The launch and book fair offered a valuable platform for outreach and sensitization on authors’ rights, copyright protection, and the importance of collective management in safeguarding literary and artistic works.

We congratulate the National Writers Association of Zambia on their successful launch and wish the association success.

Today ZARRSO joined Intellectual Property Hub in an engaging event held at the American Corner under the theme "Intellectual Property in the Digital Age", an absolutely relevant conversation for creatives. This event brought together Legal experts in IP, Media and Arts professionals, the Zambia Police IP Unit and creatives from diverse artistic disciplines.
The in-depth discussions explored how IP protects digital content and how creatives can safeguard their brands and originality to ensure they fully benefit from their economic rights. The speakers highlighted that IP is not just legal protection, but a strategic tool for business growth and economic development in Zambia and additionally emphasized the relevance of IP registration.

We look forward to participating in more conversations around shaping the future of our creative economy through Copyright protection and the continued sensitization and awareness of IP.

📢 A HISTORIC MILESTONE FOR AFRICAN RROs
On 26 June 2025, ZARRSO participated in the IFRRO African Committee Meeting hosted in Morocco by the Bureau Marocain des Droits d’Auteur et Droits Voisins (BMDAV), the Moroccan Reproduction Rights Organisation (RRO).
ZARRSO was honoured to have its CEO, Ms. Ruth Simujayangombe, preside over the meeting in her official capacity as Vice Chairperson of the IFRRO African Committee.

At the meeting CopyGhana (Ghana), COSOMA (Malawi), COSBOTS (Botswana), DALRO (South Africa), Repronig (Nigeria), SOCILADRA (Cameroon), URRO (Uganda) and ZARRSO (Zambia) formally deposited signatures to the Multiparty Agreement between African RROs.
This multilateral agreement reinforces the collective mandate of each RRO to enable and facilitate legal access to copyrighted works across African jurisdictions beyond their own national territories while additionally fostering greater collaboration among African RROs.

In addition, during this engagement, ZARRSO successfully renewed its bilateral licensing agreement with the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) of the United States of America.

ZARRSO has 17 bilateral agreements with RROs in Africa, the USA, Caribbean islands, South America, Europe and Asia, enabling us to collaborate across borders and offer licensing solutions that respect the rights of international rightsholders in Zambia and also respecting the rights of our local rightsholders internationally.
