Fellow Citizens,

It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart that we extend our deepest condolences to the people of Kenya, the Odinga family, President William Ruto and all those touched by the life of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who has passed on.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was a towering advocate for democracy, a fearless voice for justice, and an unwavering servant of the people. His journey, inspired generations across our continent.

In honoring his memory, we celebrate his many contributions. From advancing constitutional reforms and championing inclusive governance to fostering dialogue in times of crisis. His legacy will endure.

Malanji choppers to go to ZAF!

The two helicopters that were seized from former Minister of Foreign Affairs in the PF administration Joseph Malanji will be donated to the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) once all the processes are done, President Hakainde Hichilema has said.

Last month, the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court jailed Mr Malanji for possession of properties deemed to be proceeds of crime.

Among the properties include two helicopters, three luxury houses and US$215,000 cash.

After the conviction, the State applied to have the properties forfeited.

President Hichilema said where there is hunger, the helicopters will be used to deliver maize and food to citizens.

β€œThe money we got from that one who put the money in the presidential plane, I ask myself, who gave this individual the presidential jet to be used? Isn’t the presidential jet controlled by one person? Now, who gave him?” he wondered.

The head of State said he had to engage fellow heads of State to have the helicopters brought back from the two countries where they were taken.

He wondered why the helicopters were taken outside Zambia if they were genuinely acquired.

FOUND IN POSSESSION OF PROPERTY BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN STOLEN OR UNLAWFULLY OBTAINED – CHILENJE POLICE STATION
Lusaka, Thursday, October 09, 2025-The Zambia Police Service wishes to inform the public that Chilenje Police Station is investigating a case in which two male suspects were found in possession of property believed to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.
On 8th October, 2025 at around 1500 hours, Chilenje Police Station received a phone call from members of the public reporting a Road Traffic Accident (RTA) along Lilayi Road at Two Sisters Junction. The accident occurred at about 1440 hours and involved a black Mercedes Benz registration number ALP 3497 and a Toyota Allion which had double number plates affixed at the rear β€” the top plate ALP 7239 suspected to be fake, and the original BCD 3360 ZM, grey in colour.
The suspicious conduct of the occupants of the Toyota Allion prompted members of the public to apprehend two male suspects who were later identified as M/Lazarus Chibwe, aged 21 of Garden Compound, and M/Steven Kasonde, aged 20. Upon searching them, officers recovered seven (07) smart phones and one (01) small Stylo phone without a battery. The recovered items include:
1. Infinix (light green in colour)
2. Techno (grey in colour)
3. Samsung (gold in colour)
4. Techno Pop (grey in colour)
5. Samsung (black in colour)
6. Infinix Hot (blue in colour)
7. Infinix (light blue in colour)
8. Stylo phone (green in colour, without battery)
Preliminary investigations indicate that some of the recovered phones could have been stolen from different parts of Lusaka. Some individuals who claimed to have lost their phones have since contacted the station and are expected to report today, 9th October, 2025, at 08:00 hours for identification purposes.
The Toyota Allion bearing double number plates has since been towed and secured at Chilenje Police Station for further forensic examination.
