FOUND IN POSSESSION OF PROPERTY BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN STOLEN OR UNLAWFULLY OBTAINED β CHILENJE POLICE STATION
Lusaka, Thursday, October 09, 2025-The Zambia Police Service wishes to inform the public that Chilenje Police Station is investigating a case in which two male suspects were found in possession of property believed to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.
On 8th October, 2025 at around 1500 hours, Chilenje Police Station received a phone call from members of the public reporting a Road Traffic Accident (RTA) along Lilayi Road at Two Sisters Junction. The accident occurred at about 1440 hours and involved a black Mercedes Benz registration number ALP 3497 and a Toyota Allion which had double number plates affixed at the rear β the top plate ALP 7239 suspected to be fake, and the original BCD 3360 ZM, grey in colour.
The suspicious conduct of the occupants of the Toyota Allion prompted members of the public to apprehend two male suspects who were later identified as M/Lazarus Chibwe, aged 21 of Garden Compound, and M/Steven Kasonde, aged 20. Upon searching them, officers recovered seven (07) smart phones and one (01) small Stylo phone without a battery. The recovered items include:
1. Infinix (light green in colour)
2. Techno (grey in colour)
3. Samsung (gold in colour)
4. Techno Pop (grey in colour)
5. Samsung (black in colour)
6. Infinix Hot (blue in colour)
7. Infinix (light blue in colour)
8. Stylo phone (green in colour, without battery)
Preliminary investigations indicate that some of the recovered phones could have been stolen from different parts of Lusaka. Some individuals who claimed to have lost their phones have since contacted the station and are expected to report today, 9th October, 2025, at 08:00 hours for identification purposes.
The Toyota Allion bearing double number plates has since been towed and secured at Chilenje Police Station for further forensic examination.
