UPDATE: 2 DIE ON SPOT IN MKUSHI ACCIDENT

Two people have died on the spot while seven while seven others sustained minor injuries following a fatal road accident along the Great North Road in Mkushi District.

The accident occurred today around 09:00 hours in Changilo area, approximately 40 kilometres east of Mkushi town.

Involved was a Power Tools bus destined for Serenje and a Nissan Hardbody headed in the opposite direction.

Dear Colleagues in the Media and Communications Sector,

As I assume my new role as Public Relations Officer for the Zambia Police Service, I wish to extend my sincere gratitude to my predecessor, Mr. Rae Hamoonga, now Commissioner of Police and Commanding Officer for Western Province, for his dedicated service in continuously strengthening the cordial and constructive relationship between the Police and the media.

Chasefu Man Admitted to Hospital After Killing Leopard in Self-Defense

A 47-year-old man in Chasefu District of Eastern Province has been admitted to Kamuna Mini Hospital for medical attention after killing a leopard in a fierce bush encounter in self-defense.

Binwell Nyirenda, who is also Headman Yolamu in Senior Chief Magodi's Chiefdom, sustained injuries on his hands and other parts of his body during the incident.

In a telephone interview, Mr. Nyirenda recounted that he was taken to the hospital on October 28, 2025.

Mr. Nyirenda had gone to cut a tree in the bush to make an axe handle when the leopard attacked, and he fought it off in self-defense.

He is appealing for help from well-wishers to meet his basic needs while he receives treatment at the hospital.
