GOVERNMENT ALLOCATES OVER K43M FOR CDF SKILLS AND BOARDING SECONDARY SCHOOL BURSARIES
The government has allocated K6,228,226.01 to each of the seven constituencies in Lusaka District for the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursaries.
This initiative aims to support skills development and boarding secondary school education, enhancing opportunities for youths and pupils in Lusaka District.
A total of 177 pupils from five constituencies namely Matero (22), Lusaka Central (90), Chawama (12), Kanyama (37) and Kabwata (16) have been awarded secondary school bursaries based on the criteria outlined in their applications, while Mandevu and Munali constituencies will receive a confirmed list of selected pupils soon.
Additionally, 2,695 youths from four constituencies namely Matero, Lusaka Central, Chawama and Kanyama have been selected for various skills training programs.
These programs include Automotive Mechanics, Food Production, Fashion Design and Textile Technology, Carpentry and Joinery, General Hospitality and Information Communication Technology.
Lusaka Central has the highest number of selected youths at 769, followed by Matero at 694, Chawama at 692 and Kanyama at 540. Kabwata, Mandevu and Munali constituencies will receive an approved list of selected youths under the 2025 CDF Skills bursaries component soon.
These students will undergo training at various skills training centers in Lusaka, including those in Chilenje, Mandevu, Dzitandizeni, Kamwala and Chelston.
The CDF bursaries are part of the government's efforts to provide support to orphans and vulnerable children, to promote skills development and education.
The Lusaka City Council remains committed to ensuring that the allocated funds are utilized effectively and efficiently to benefit the communities.
