NCP RECONSIDERS ITS FUTURE IN TONSE ALLIANCE

By Victoria Kayeye Yambani

New Congress Party (NCP) Leader Peter Chanda says the party is currently undergoing a period of introspection and internal reorganisation that will determine its future participation in the Tonse Alliance.

Speaking during a press briefing, Mr. Chanda says there are some Patriotic Front members that do not want his party to continue as a special purpose vehicle.

He says amid these discussions his party will not participate in any meeting or issues relating to the Tonse Alliance.

And Mr Chanda says his final decision will be dictated by the party’s members through provincial conferences leading up to a general conference.

He says that, for now, the party’s main duty remains to serve the people of Zambia, as it evaluates whether to continue as part of the Tonse Alliance or evolve into a standalone political vehicle.

ROAN – MPATAMATU ROAD PROJECT TAKES SHAPE AS GROUND-BREAKING CEREMONY SET FOR TOMORROW
Development momentum continues to sweep through the Copperbelt as the people of Roan Constituency gear up for the official ground-breaking ceremony of the long-awaited Roan–Mpatamatu Road Project, set for tomorrow at 09:00 hours in Kaunda Square, Luanshya.

The ceremony will be graced by the Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Eng. Charles Milupi, marking another milestone in the government’s ongoing infrastructure development drive aimed at improving road networks and unlocking economic opportunities in mining towns.

In an official statement, Roan Member of Parliament Hon. Joel Chibuye expressed deep satisfaction over the progress achieved through persistent engagement and collaboration with the Ministry of Infrastructure.

“This groundbreaking will see the continuation of the road construction from Roan to Mpatamatu. I am proud of the progress we have made and thankful to Hon. Milupi for his responsiveness and dedication to the people of Roan,” Hon. Chibuye stated.

Although currently on official duty in Europe, the Roan lawmaker assured residents that he remains in constant communication with the Ministry and local representatives who will be present at the event to represent his office.

He emphasized that the project is more than just a road construction exercise—it represents a renewed promise of transformation, connectivity, and economic revival for the people of Roan

“Together, we are delivering on our promises and building the Roan we all deserve,” Hon. Chibuye added.

The upcoming groundbreaking ceremony is expected to draw residents, community leaders, and various stakeholders eager to witness the beginning of a project that symbolizes hope, progress, and partnership between government and citizens.

As the Copperbelt continues to benefit from major road infrastructure works, the Roan–Mpatamatu Road Project stands as yet another clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to uplifting living standards through tangible development.

GOVT, LUNGU FAMILY TO SET BURIAL DISCUSSION DATES

By Darius Choonya

The family of former President Edgar Lungu and the Zambian government have engaged mediators to facilitate discussions regarding his burial.

Family spokesperson Makebi Zulu said in an interview that the move will enable both parties to agree on timelines and dates for the talks.

Mr. Zulu’s update comes a month after the announcement of formal discussions between the Lungu family and the government.

Mr. Lungu died on June 5, 2025, in Pretoria, South Africa.

Four months after his death, and amid legal issues arising from an impasse between the two parties, the former President has yet to be laid to rest.

DEAR MR UNHONORABLE Miles Sampa , DO NOT EVER THINK ZAMBIANS ARE STUPID OR CHICKEN MINDED...
The President is in the UK on a Bilateral State Working Visit... And from that very visit, he would bring a lot of investors to our country...
Your way of politicking is so retrogressive and out dated.
If you think we have forgotten, you as Lusaka Mayor then, you travelled to China using tax payer's money to just go and watch the Great wall of China without copying anything from it's construction to replicate it to Lusaka... You even used tax payer's money to Acquire your so called Karate Skills yet today you want to sound smart by insulting our memories...

Don't be Styopeti Honorable.
