Creation of Tommy D Namafela

Tommy D was born Thomas Kaluba at the UTH in Lusaka on August 28, 1984. Raised in Kabwata, Lusaka – a middle class community in the heart of lusaka – Tommy D gravitated to music of street oriented rappers Like CRISIS, Daddy Zemus, Keith Mutale and Chamanyazi.Although he attended NIPA college for a diploma in Accounting,Tommy D started writing lyrics that talk about dealing and street life, an act he saw as a child on the streets of Katondo.

He took his performing name from the stories he had heard mostly about street life and hustling. Ironically, Tommy worked as a radio presenter for 7 years (something he has never revealed , but later got discovered), but the passion of hip-hop music and the lavish lifestyle of dealers and hustlers he saw through out his youth led him in another direction.
