🇿🇲 🇿🇲The Zambia We Must Remember🇿🇲🇿🇲
As Zambia celebrates 61 years of independence, I find myself reflecting... not just on where we came from, but on who we are becoming as a nation. From the perspective of peace and unity.
To be Zambian today is to live in a generation of paradox; where freedom is inherited, but responsibility must be chosen by every citizen.
We’ve traded typewriters for touchscreens, yet the heart of our identity must remain rooted in UBUNTU, the spirit that reminds us, “I am because we are.”
The Zambia we must remember is not only one of copper and maize, but of kindness and courage. It’s the one Kenneth Kaunda envisioned when he said, “Love your neighbour.” A Zambia that transcends tribe, tongue, and status — united not by uniformity, but by shared humanity.
We're diverse but universal.
Our independence story is still being written, through how we treat one another, how we speak about our nation, and how we contribute to its progress. Patriotism in this generation isn’t just about waving a flag; it’s about raising our values.
Loving our country and honoring the people that bought this freedom.
So as we mark 61 years, may we not only celebrate our past, but also recommit to the Zambia we must remember — and the one we must rebuild.
