The VCA in Zambia is in its fourth year of implementation, with 1.5 years year left in the programme, VCA Zambia is having an in- person workshop aimed at creating a space of trust, learning, and collaboration between partners across the Alliance to strengthen the programme's impact and sustainability through a sensemaking approach.

All the Alliance members and the sub-grant partners have come together for a meeting that has a strong focus on knowledge sharing, learning and collective advocacy with intentions of creating a space where colleagues can get a better sense of one another’s work in the VCA so they can collectively identify the gaps and opportunities that can be harnessed in the last year of the programme.

Happy World Radio Day

World Radio Day, celebrated annually on February 13th, commemorates the profound impact of radio on our lives.

Throughout history, radio has served as a vital source of information and connection, especially during times of crisis. Its ability to reach remote areas and provide real-time updates has made it indispensable during emergencies, enabling authorities to disseminate crucial information swiftly and effectively.

Beyond crisis situations, radio remains a steadfast companion, offering diverse programming that entertains, educates, and empowers listeners worldwide.

In today's digital age, where misinformation proliferates through various channels, radio stands as a beacon of reliability. Unlike print media or social platforms susceptible to manipulation, radio broadcasts uphold rigorous journalistic standards, serving as a trusted source of accurate information. By eradicating misinformation and fostering informed discourse, radio plays a pivotal role in promoting media literacy and strengthening democratic principles. Its accessibility transcends barriers of language, geography, and socioeconomic status, making it a truly inclusive medium that unites communities and amplifies diverse voices.

Radio also provides us with a unique opportunity to engage in national debates with objectivity and impartiality. Through thoughtfully curated discussions and expert analysis, radio programs facilitate constructive dialogue on pressing issues without bias. This commitment to presenting multiple perspectives fosters a deeper understanding of complex societal challenges and encourages critical thinking among listeners. By promoting civil discourse and respecting diverse viewpoints, radio contributes to the democratic process, empowering citizens to participate actively in shaping the future of their nations.

As we celebrate World Radio Day, let us reaffirm the enduring relevance and promising future of this timeless medium. Beyond its technological evolution, radio's essence lies in its ability to forge meaningful connections and inspire positive change. Whether through captivating storytelling, thought-provoking discussions, or uplifting music, radio continues to enrich our lives and shape our collective consciousness. As we navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected world, let us cherish the invaluable role of radio in fostering empathy, understanding, and solidarity among all listeners.

Happy day folks

In response to this pressing need, Panos Institute Southern Africa (PSAf), in collaboration with the Zambia Institute of Independent Media Alliance-Ziima (ZIIMA) and with support from , convened a one-day training workshop in Lusaka aimed at empowering media professionals with the tools and insights necessary to report on climate change and its multifaceted narratives skillfully.
