Army Worms Infest National Heroes Stadium Turf
The playing surface at the National Heroes Stadium has reportedly been infested by army worms, forcing authorities to intensify rehabilitation efforts at the facility.
According to reports, Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu confirmed the infestation and revealed that specialists from South Africa have been engaged to assess the extent of the damage and recommend possible solutions.
Nkandu explained that the infestation has slowed down the ongoing rehabilitation works at the stadium, adding that further upgrades will continue once the turf is fully restored.
Meanwhile, Sporturf Project Manager Maurice Van Nierneck stated that the turf has already been fumigated and that the grass is expected to recover and resume growth soon.
