Why we are connecting g**s and le****ns and supporting equal rights......
I'm not gay, nor am I activist. But I believe
in certain things, chief among them that all
people deserve to share the same rights and
responsibilities regardless of their race,
gender, family ties or sexuality.
So when a portion of the population who are
gay tell me "hey, we want to get married
and have that recognized by law like
everyone else" then of course I support this.
I have yet to hear a single rational argument
for why our law does not already allow it.
Similarly, when I hear that g**s or
transsexuals have been treated unfairly or
targeted for abuse based on their sexuality, I
consider this unacceptable. How can anyone
not?
Finally, I recognize that in the real world,
g**s exist. Therefore it falls on society to
teach our children that sexuality comes in
many different forms and that it is not
acceptable to discriminate against a minority
simply because they are different. If we are
going to have public schools, those schools
must recognize the entire public and not
pretend that homosexual or transgender
minorities don't exist. Part of public
education involves teaching kids how to
accept and live alongside people in their
society who differ from themselves.
I don't always agree with LGBT activist
stances. But when it comes down to the
fundamentals our nation was built on,
homosexuals have a right to speak, a right to
live openly without fear or hostility, and a
right to demand that they be treated equally
under the law.
If we in the US can't support something so
basic we don't actually support the very core
principle our nation was founded on, that all
people are equals under the law.
On a more personal level, I have dear friends
who are homosexual. They are fantastic
people who deserve support. As a paramedic
I met quite a few transgender individuals.
Their bravery and strength of character was
unquestionable. Oddly enough, it seems that
there are good people from all walks of life -
who the hell am I to judge the way someone
else chooses to live. Particularly people who
are overwhelmingly peaceful, contributing
members of my society? I don't have to
understand something to accept it. And my
life has been richer for doing so.
So not only do LGBTs have my support
based on principle, they have won my
support on a personal level, for being
awesome. Homosexuals are not "others."
They are part of "us." Comrades, friends,
and neighbors. Good ones. Are you Gay or a Le***an we are connecting you jst inbox or whatsapp +260965011030 us we will connect you
