Last night, as people gathered to usher in 2026 at Eden Queen Car Wash in Libala South, along Lilayi Road, celebrations turned into panic after unknown criminals reportedly sprayed what witnesses believe was pepper spray or tear gas with the intention of robbing patrons.
The place was packed with people counting down to the New Year when the incident occurred. Within moments, confusion and fear broke out as people scrambled for safety. In the process, many were injured, some were stepped on, and several mobile phones were stolen as patrons tried to save their lives.
Many started praying for there lives as they turned the Night club into a church.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying. What was meant to be a night of celebration suddenly became a place of prayer and desperation.
“It was really bad. Eden Queen Car Wash actually turned into a church. People were praying for their lives to be spared. Many were injured, stepped on, and many lost their phones,” said Linda
Another witness added:
“Others have died. We panicked a lot I have sores all over my body. It was tear gas during fireworks. We almost lost our lives. Ichimpwena ichi, ala kwali ukunyantana.😢.”
