Good Shepherd Zambia Community School

Good Shepherd Zambia Community School The vision grew out of a deep concern for the lack of a reading culture in the area.

Founded in 2012, Good Shepherd Zambia Community School was established to address the educational needs of children in Ng’ombe Township and surrounding communities. From its humble beginning with just 8 learners and 1 teacher, the school has expanded to become a thriving center of learning, now serving over 230 learners with a team of 8 dedicated teachers.

🌟 Progress Worth Celebrating! 🌟

We are excited to share that our school toilet project is steadily taking shape! 🙌🏽 What was once just a vision is now becoming a reality before our eyes.

This development is not just about infrastructure but it is about dignity, health, and a better learning environment for our children. Every brick laid is a step toward creating a safer and more supportive space for them to grow and thrive.

💙 A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed, supported, and believed in this project. Your generosity is making a real difference in the lives of our learners.

As you can see, learning continues even as development progresses and our children remain hopeful, resilient, and full of joy.

🙏🏽 We are grateful… and we are not stopping here! Together, we are building not just facilities, but a brighter future.

💔 “Teacher, where can I go?” — A Question No Child Should Struggle to Ask 🚧🏫

At Good Shepherd Zambia Community School in Ng’ombe Township, Lusaka, over 250 vulnerable and determined learners come to school every day with one dream — to learn, to grow, and to build a better future.

But behind their smiles and eagerness to learn is a difficult reality.

👉 The entire school currently depends on only two toilets shared by learners and teachers.

For many children, especially our girl learners, this situation affects their health, dignity, confidence, and even school attendance. Some learners feel embarrassed. Some try to endure discomfort. Others struggle to fully concentrate in class.

According to Ministry of Education standards,
✔️ 1 toilet should serve 25 boys
✔️ 1 toilet should serve 20 girls

This means our school urgently needs additional sanitation facilities to protect the well-being and dignity of our children.

🙏 Refusing to give up on our learners, we have taken a bold step of faith and started constructing a new ablution block.
We are grateful that through the kindness of well-wishers, friends, and partners, we have already raised K30,000,($1,550) and the structure is now beginning to take shape.

But the journey is not yet complete.

⚠️ The total project cost is K70,000,($3,600) leaving us with a remaining need of K40,000($2,060) to finish the works and make the facility fully usable.

Today, we are reaching out to YOU.
Yes — you who believe that every child deserves dignity.
Every child deserves health.
Every child deserves a safe place to learn.

🌱 Your support will help us provide:
✨ Safe and hygienic sanitation facilities
✨ Improved learner attendance and confidence
✨ A healthier learning environment
✨ Hope for children from vulnerable communities

Whether you give K50($2.6), K100($5.2), K500($26), or more — every contribution brings us closer to completing this life-changing project.

📚 A Love for Reading… Even Without a Library

At Good Shepherd Zambia Community School, our learners love to read. Whether sitting on a bench, in the classroom, or even outside in the open yard, they eagerly open their books and allow their imaginations to travel beyond their surroundings.

These photos tell a powerful story. Our learners are drumming to the beat of a different march—choosing books, knowledge, and learning. But they are doing so without a proper library.

Right now, many of them must read outside or in crowded spaces because our school library has not yet been built. Yet their determination to learn remains strong.

We believe that every child deserves a quiet, safe, and inspiring place to read and discover the world through books.

That is why one of our next major goals is to build a library for our learners. A simple library would provide:

A dedicated reading space

Proper storage for books

A place where curiosity and imagination can grow

🙏 We invite friends, partners, and well-wishers to join us in making this dream possible.

Your support can help us build a library that will serve hundreds of children in Ng’ombe Township for many years to come.

Together, we can help these young readers march toward a brighter future—one book at a time. 📖✨

Drumming to the Beat of Different Marchers

At Good Shepherd Zambia Community School, every child is learning to march to a positive and hopeful rhythm. 📚 While others may follow the noise of the world, our learners are discovering a different beat—the beat of education, discipline, curiosity, and hope for the future.

Moments like this remind us that reading opens the mind and shapes young hearts to walk confidently on their own path. Even in simple spaces, great dreams are being nurtured.

These young readers may be resting for a moment, but their minds are marching forward toward knowledge and opportunity.

At Good Shepherd, we celebrate every learner who chooses to drum to the beat of a better future. 🌟📖

Happy New Month of March! 🌸📚

Today, as we begin both a new week and a new month, we commit all our learners into God’s loving hands. May the Lord meet each child at their point of need — academically, socially, and spiritually — and grant them wisdom, confidence, good health, and a joyful heart as they attend school throughout this month.

We pray for focus in learning, kindness in friendships, and growth in character. May March be a month of progress, excellence, and abundant blessings for every learner in our school community. 🙏✨

“May the Lord bless you and keep you throughout this new month.”

We wrapped up Week 7 of Term 1 on a joyful and purposeful note! 🎉📚

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to Mr. and Mrs. Chanana for their kind visit and generous donation of rice, nutritious soya pieces, cooking oil, and tomatoes. Our learners truly enjoyed the nutritious meal on Friday — their smiles said it all! 🍅🍚

Later in the day, our dedicated teachers attended the Teachers’ Group Meeting (TGM) at Impact One Initiative Library off Zambezi Road. During the meeting, they shared practical strategies on guided reading, strengthening literacy — one of the key pillars of our schools in the Impact One Network. We remain committed to nurturing confident, fluent, and thoughtful readers. 📖✨

As we close the month of February 2026, we are grateful for the growth, partnerships, and continuous learning that make our school community strong. Here’s to an even greater March ahead! 🌟

Today was an important day at Good Shepherd Zambia Community School ❤️

Our partners conducted height and weight assessments to monitor the impact of our feeding programme on our learners. These measurements help us see the real difference that consistent, nutritious meals are making in their growth, strength, and overall well-being.

We are deeply grateful to Convoy of Hope and Sew Powerful USA/Zambia for faithfully providing food for our learners and for the generous donation of a borehole, which ensures access to clean, safe water. Because of you, our children are not only learning but also growing healthy and strong.

Healthy bodies. Growing minds. Brighter futures.

Thank you for walking this journey with us. 🙏
