Former Zambia national team coach Milutin Sredojevic alias Micho has praised the attitude and great impact of Zambian players in his coaching career.
The 55-year old gaffer, now in charge of Sudanese side Al Merreikh SC, has praised the character of the Zambian players he has worked with so far in his career.
“Wherever I was I had Zambians beside me and I need to tell you that Zambians are special players for me because they are committed, dedicated, hardworking, they have big hearts to fight, lungs to run, brains to think and legs to play,” Micho told ZNBC’s Radio 4 in an interview this morning.
He described Zambian players as special and recognized the impact of players such as the late Justin Shonga, Augustine Mulenga and Isaac Chansa whom he worked with at Orlando Pirates in South Africa.
“Having Zambians I feel like having special battle forces and I want to appreciate because Zambians did so much for me,” he said.
Recently appointed as head coach at Al Merreikh, Micho immediately sanctioned the addition of another Zambian into his ranks as Obino Chisala joined the club from CD Costa do Sol of Mozambique.
“I’m happy to have Obino Chisala and having Zambians gives me great sense because it is like having special command of forces beside me,” added Micho.
Meanwhile, Micho has further backed the Chipolopolo ahead of Monday’s 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations draw, stating that he dreams of the nation replicating the historical 2012 AFCON triumph in Morocco next year.
“I count myself as one of the far away supporters of Zambia wholeheartedly because Zambians love football in a special way with passion and I hope Chipolopolo make Zambians happy and proud and I will not exclude the big surprise of going all the way to repeat what happened in 2012,” he said.
Micho who handled the Chipolopolo between 2020 and 2021, has worked with several Zambian players in his lengthy coaching career on the African continent.
