‎CHSZ URGES SUSTAINABILITY IN ADOLESCENT HEALTH PROGRAMS

‎Children’s Health Society of Zambia (CHSZ) Executive Director, Kamima Ng'uni, has called for the adoption of sustainable adolescent health initiatives by government.

‎Speaking at the Make Way Program handover stakeholder engagement meeting, Mr. Ng'uni highlighted make a way’s achievements in improving access to reproductive health services for vulnerable adolescents. KANYAMA UPND CONSTITUENCY CHAIRMAN SUPPORTS DELIMITATION OF CONSTITUENCY

‎UPND Kanyama Constituency Chairman, Justin Kabwe, has expressed support for the delimitation of Kanyama Constituency. In an interview with City TV Zambia, Kabwe acknowledged the concerns of residents who have struggled to access the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) due to the constituency's large population.
‎
Mr ‎Kabwe noted that Kanyama Constituency has a unique challenge, with a population of over 600,000 people, making it distinct from other constituencies in Zambia. Despite this, he explained that government laws governing CDF allocations remain unchanged, and funds cannot be increased simply because of the constituency's size.

Mr. ‎Kabwe further explained that the constituency's six wards receive grants that are divided equally, but the minimal funds available force them to divide K40,000 among 15,000 people, resulting in insufficient support for individuals. He emphasized that delimitation would help address this issue, allowing residents to benefit equally from CDF allocations, similar to those in smaller constituencies

MAKENI VILLA WARD 14 COUNCILOR ASSURES RESIDENTS OF DRAINAGE SYSTEM UPGRADE

Makeni Villa Ward 14 Councillor, Mr. Fred Mumba, has revealed plans to upgrade the drainage system in his ward before the onset of the rainy season. In an exclusive interview with City TV Zambia, Mr. Mumba acknowledged that his ward is prone to flooding and assured residents that measures are being taken to address the issue.

Mr. Mumba stated that he has engaged a contractor to work on a stretch of the drainage system, which will direct floodwater into the 55 drain that flows into Kalunda. He explained that several requests were made through the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU), but are yet to be addressed.

Despite funding constraints, Mr. Mumba expressed optimism that they can construct three to four culverts along the 55 road before the rains start. He appealed to the government to allocate a portion of the K300 million awarded to Kanyama Constituency for drainage upgrades in his ward.

Mr. Mumba emphasized the urgency of addressing the drainage issue before the rainy season commences, and urged consideration for his ward's funding request to prevent flooding.
