Kalingalinga fuel attendant murdered in brutal robbery

A 35-year-old fuel attendant, Sibeso Akalilwa, was brutally murdered in the early hours of yesterday during a robbery at the Rubis service station in Kalingalinga.

According to police, Akalilwa and her colleague, Mapalo Mwelwa, had reported for their night shift on Tuesday and were scheduled to knock off at 07:00 hours. However, around 03:00 hours, the two were ambushed and violently attacked by an unknown number of criminals, believed to have been armed with unidentified weapons.

Zambia Police Service spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed the incident, stating that Akalilwa sustained fatal head injuries inflicted with a blunt object and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital.

Her colleague, Mwelwa, also suffered multiple head injuries and remains in critical condition at the same hospital.

Police have since named two security guards from White Hat Security Company, identified only as Boniface and Lungu, as prime suspects in the attack. The duo is currently on the run and is being actively pursued by authorities.

Akalilwa leaves behind two children.
