POWER DYNAMOS IN EARLY CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE EXIT

Power Dynamos are out of the CAF Champions League after a 1-0 home defeat to Al Merrikh on Saturday.

FAZ COPPERBELT CHAIR URGES NKANA FANS TO BACK POWER IN CAF CLASH

FAZ Copperbelt Chairperson Patrick Ndhlovu has urged Nkana FC fans to put rivalry aside and support Power Dynamos against Al Merrikh in the CAF Champions League tomorrow at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Ndhlovu says Power are playing as Zambia’s representatives and need all the support to help the country reclaim four CAF slots.

“We are not playing as Power Dynamos we are playing as Zambia’s representative. This is a national issue,” he said.

Power trail 1-0 on aggregate and host Al Merrikh at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium at 15h00 on Saturday.

“Let all Nkana supporters come and support Power Dynamos so that they feel well supported. We need Power Dynamos to reach the semifinals so that we can regain the four CAF club slots,” he said.

Kickoff is 15h00.

FAZ TO CORPORATES: HELP US FUND NATIONAL TEAMS

FAZ has appealed to more corporate companies to support Zambian football, saying government alone cannot fund 11 national teams.

The appeal came as 1xBet Zambia donated football and refereeing equipment worth over 120 thousand Kwacha to FAZ.

The 1,300 items include match balls, bibs, cones and referee kits.

FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya says the donation will go a long way in supporting teams and match officials across the country.

ZA TO PROBE SAMUKONGA’S WELFARE CLAIMS

Commonwealth Games champion Muzala Samukonga has accused Zambia Athletics of failing athletes, saying they are being asked to pay for their own air tickets to represent the country.

Samukonga says there is no athlete welfare or development plan under the current executive led by Major Bernard Bwalya and has called on the Ministry of Sport to intervene.

In response, Zambia Athletics General Secretary Teddy Shimishi says the federation will investigate the matter and issue a comprehensive report.

He says government, NSCZ and NOCZ support national team programs.

POWER-MERRIKH COUNTDOWN TO CAF DECIDER

Power Dynamos are in Kitwe intensifying preparations for Saturday’s CAF Champions League return leg against Al Merrikh at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The Zambian champions trail 1-0 from the first leg in Kigali.
