NO SACRED COWS IN CORRUPTION FIGHT- HH

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has addressed Parliament with a call on Members of Parliament to work with government in the fight against corruption.

The Head of State has emphasised that there will be no sacred cows when it comes to ensuring that corruption is fougt at every level.

He said this can be seen with strides that have been made in the past 10 days where some Presidential appointees have been fired over corruption allegations.

Mr Hichilema echoed that the fight against corruption should not be called selective, nor be mistaken as targeting certain ethnic groupings as it is individuals abusing government resources for their own selfish individual benefit.

“In the fight against corruption, there shall be no sacred cow. You have seen in the past 10 days the President’s own appointees have been fired because of corruption. Do not call the fight against corruption selective based or targeting a certain ethnic group. If you too public money, you did not take it for your ethnic groups. You took it for yourself. We have also engaged traditional leaders concerning corruption. No one will hide under traditional leaders to steal. We cannot allow people to supply air all in the name of corruption. This house should work together and and the entire country should work together against corruption. Now we are rebuilding the economy,” he said.

He said there is need for a country that is morally and ethically upright and thus the need for people to embrace hard work and not sourcing for free things.

President Hichilema in his address which touched on Morality and Ethics, Patriotism and National Unity, Democracy, Good Governance ,Sustainable Development and Human Dignity said there is need for concerted efforts to help grow the progress of National value and principles.

He also reiterated the need to put to an end the issues of alcoholism, Gender Based Violence, Child marriage and teen pregnancies.

He said however, with implementation of the National Alcohol policy, Government undertook senitisation programs in which around 523,973 citizens have been sensitized against alcoholism against a figure of 217,234 which was done in 2021.

“Further, Government continues to provide rehabilitation services. As of 2022, 1,212 children were rehabilitated as compared to only 810 in 2021. Going forward, Government will enhance the National Alcohol Policy.

He said policies such as free education was one of the many measures put in place to help in combating child marriages and teen pregnancies as children were now in school.

ASPIRING PF PRESIDENT LIES ABOUT PRESIDENT HICHILEMA APPOINTING RELATIVES ... DOESN'T JUST WANT TO SEE TONGA APPOINTMENTS

How one PF leader takes himself seriously to a point where he has wasted K200,000 nomination fees to stand as PF presidential candidate beats me. If you want to be a president, you have to adopt seriousness and things you say should have verisimilitude or at least some modicum of truth. However, the man has perfected the art of lying and he does it without butting an eye. He does it with gusto, licking his lips and while smiling carelessly from ear to ear. The problem is not him but the people who take what he says and writes seriously.

Yesterday, through the page that he manages as an admin named "Patriotic Front" our lying friend wrote: "President Hakainde Hichilema has appointed former Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) Director General, Perry Mapani as new IDC CEO to replace Mateyo C. Kaluba. ... Like Victor Mapani, Perry is a relation to President Hakainde Hichilema. ... The position like that of his brother at ZESCO, was not subjected to competition or public advertisement."

The issue here is our man first looked at the names Perry Mapani and Victor Mapani and concluded that the two are related. It’s like me saying that Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, UNIP stalwart Sylvester Mwamba Chisembele from Mansa, the late sports administrator Mwamba Kalenga, late boxing coach Anthony Mwamba and Emmanuel Mwamba of the opposition PF are related simply because of their names. Perry Mapani and Victor Mapani are not related. Secondly he said that Perry Mapani, like Victor, are both related to President Hakainde Hichilema. The truth is that Perry is not related to President Hichilema and our lying man is free to shame me by unleashing whatever data he has. Perry Mapani is an Easterner. Perry Mapani is not from Southern Province. Maybe Bally is an Eastern after all. Maybe thats why imwe Ba PF stopped him from leaving Chipata Airport and entering Chipata with pomp and splendor ahead of the 2021 elections. The name Mapani is a bastardisation of the English word "puns" from cooking utensils and can be Tonga, Lozi, Chewa or even Bemba. But our brother assumed things and only saw Tonga as the possibility. Perry is a Mapani from Eastern. Its like the name Mwenda. We have Mwendas from Northern, Eastern, Western and Southern. Same as Miyanda. General Godfrey Miyanda is from Eastern, late Sports Minister Samuel Miyanda was from Lusaka Province while female entrepreneur Miyanda Katiwa should be from Southern Province.

As for the appointment of Perry Mapani, what the PF won't tell you that Mr. Perry Mapani was appointed as the Director General of the Zambia Development Agency effective 15th January 2018. This was under Edgar Lungu. They found him to be brilliant then and dont want the UPND to also use his brilliance. Mapani worked in a large national investment entities like ZCCM Investment Holdings Plc as Chief Financial Officer and he was Country Manager of Afgri Zambia Limited. Perry holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Hons) in Accounting and Finance as well as an MBA. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation as well as being a fellow with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Basically what our lying friend was trying to say is that Perry Mapani, Victor Mapani and President HH are Tongas and are related by tribe. This is because he doesn't have proof of any other relation. Our lying friend is just not happy to see Tonga appointments. He is usually diplomatic in his language as so will only say it subtlely that the two Mapanis are related to HH knowing what trive HH is. Last week I wrote an article about how Tongas are an endangered species in Zambian politics and how they are damned if appointed and damned if not appointed. I also argued that it is funny and tragic at the same time to have Tongas who were marginalised in the last government of Edgar Chagwa Lungu, to be advocated for discrimination under the UPND government. So which government will be ok to appoint them?

So our man listen, President Hakainde Hichilema is not related to Victor Benjamin Mapani either. Your malice is intended to suggest that Hakainde Hichilema is nepotistic. But in this case you have lied. You can't hide lies. Neither can you hide truth. The Germans have a proverb: “Lies have short legs.” When life becomes a maze of either people-pleasing or self-pleasing, the legs needed to carry that load are always too short. Lies beget lies, and soon the story becomes so absurd that the child or adult trying to get away with it is trapped.

To my brother, our lying friend, let me tell you that sincerity is an important skill. Sometimes it might be hard to tell Zambian voters the truth but you need to know that Zambian voters appreciate your sincerity whenever you rarely put it accross. There is nothing better than telling the truth, especially once you realize that just like a lie, the truth always comes out, too. Even if you hide it behind a mountain, a truth will still be seen. It is just too large to hide.

LUSAKA In an amazing twist of fortunes, High Court Judge Timothy Katanekwa has granted Patriotic Front(PF) presidential candidate Miles Sampa an interim injunction halting his suspension from the party pending hearing of a court case.

Judge Katanekwa has also restrained PF acting president Given Lubinda and acting secretary general Nickson Chilangwa from holding themselves in those positions until final determination of the lawsuit against them.

The Judge has also granted an order restraining Mr Lubinda and Mr Chilangwa from defamation or innuendos against Mr Sampa, a member of the Pf central committee.

This is according to an ex-parte order of interim injunction granted to Mr Sampa yesterday.

The happenings in the former ruling Patriotic Front strangely resemble what endued in their predecessors, the MMD over the years where sponsored factions kept going to court in a protracted leadership battle aimed at ousting party leader Dr.Nevers Sekwila Mumba, whom the courts repeatedly upheld as having been legitimately elected and backed by the weight of the party constitution.

In this case, Mr Sampa had rushed to the High Court to challenge the PF’s decision to suspend him from the organisation founded by his uncle, the late fifth President Michael Sata.

The former deputy Minister of Finance has also sued Mr Chilangwa and Mr Lubinda for slander and libel and has accused dual of illegally holding office.

The lawsuit comes barely a week after Mr Lubinda announced that Mr Sampa was on suspension of Mr Sampa for allegedly issuing demeaning statements against his fellow party members by allegedly attacking some of his fellow presidential aspirants at a press briefing last Friday.

Mr Lubinda said during his suspension, the Matero Member of Parliament is barred from attending or participating in any party functions including meetings that shall be called by his fellow Members of Parliament.

Unhappy with the move, the former Lusaka Mayor had field a lawsuit citing Mr Chilangwa and Mr Lubinda as first and second defendants.

The plaintiff wants the court to declare that the defendants’ decision to suspend him as member of central committee is invalid and should be annulled for being procedurally improper and a breach of the rules of natural justice.

He further seeks damages for slander and libel and an injunction restraining the defendants and their agents from suspending or expelling him.

Mr Sampa also seeks an order of injunction restraining the defendants from holding themselves in their positions until final determination of the matter, which the Judge granted yesterday later afternoon.

“The plaintiff seeks an order that having no president and secretary general of the party proceed to immediately hold a general conference to elect leaders to file up the vacant positions under the joint leadership of the central committee,” the document reads.

Mr Sampa submits that his suspension, without a disciplinary hearing, was made in bad faith because he was not charged and neither did he appear before a disciplinary committee.

“The actions by the defendants has not been made in good faith but it is a ploy to prevent him from participating in the general conference slated for March 2023,” the document reads.

Mr Sampa also wants the court to order the defendants to immediately hold a general conference to elect leaders to file up the vacant positions.

The court has set February 16,2023, as date for hearing of the case.

When we join Civil Service, we sign up to serve wherever we are deployed to and in whatever position.

Similarly, we also sign up to be redeployed to ply our skills in different departments to serve the Nation.

Foreign service has its own structure and the Ambassador or High Commissioner is head of the Mission whilst the Deputy is actually the in charge of the Mission as Controlling Officer. It is the Deputy that deals with all financial, Administration and HR matters at the Mission including recruiting local staff at the Mission. So the Deputy at the Mission reports only to the Ambassador/High Commissioner and the rest of the staff are supervised and report to the Deputy.

Don't get disrupted by the opposition talk, it's all cheap. Emmanuel Mwamba himself was PS and later Ambassador, Leslie Mbula was Secretary to Cabinet and later High Commissioner just as several former Commanders of the Army, ZAF, ZNS, OP and ZP got and still get to be redeployed into Foreign Service including Former First Ladies.No one screamed "Demotion". Why on us?

The tribal card too can't arise as you all saw late President Chiluba worked with pipo like late Chikwanda as Chief of Staff at State House, late President Mwanawasa worked with bene Jack Kalala, late President Banda worked with bene Dickson Jere and late President Sata worked with bene George Chella whilst President Lungu worked with bene Kaizer Zulu. Why should it be tribal when President HH works with other pipo at State House?

Eyes on the ball colleagues, we are not here to serve or satisfy the PF. We are here to serve the pipo of Zambia with Zambians. And that is what President HH is doing, serving Zambians with Zambians for Zambia. Let's not get entangled in trivialities, we have a country to run.
