Farewell

As I step away from the Editor’s chair,
Gratitude lingers, rich in the air. To the team, the contributors, readers too, this journey was brighter because of you.

We built not just pages but a voice so strong,a chorus of stories, a purposeful song.

The Lusaka Star shines, steadfast and true,
A beacon for not just UNZA but far beyond.

Though my chapter ends, I carry the glow,
of memories created, of seeds we did sow.
The future is radiant, its promise so transparent.

Thank you for walking this path with me here on Star.

To the guardians of Media, steadfast and true, my gratitude flows in rivers to you. For trust and support along my quest, you lit my path, you gave your best.

Though my role as editor now wides up, Lusaka Star’s colours stay etched in my heart. A banner of stories, bold and bright, forever i will carry its guiding light.

Gerald Mambwe, Outgoing Lusaka Star Managing Editor.

K600,000 Kalingalinga Police Post Road rehabilitation underway

By Kasongo Rebecca

Kalingalinga Police Post Road, which branches off Alick Nkhata Road, is currently undergoing rehabilitation under the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation for Munali Constituency.

Kalingalinga Ward 36 Councillor, Mukubesa Nyoni revealed that the rehabilitation works are being carried out at a cost of about K600,000 under the CDF.

In an interview with Lusaka Star, Mr. Nyoni said the rehabilitation works on the road would be completed within a month.

“Our hope is to upgrade the police road into a tarred road, but for now we are rehabilitating it into a gravel road with crushed stones. With the gradual expansion of the CDF, we hope that all such roads will eventually reach excellent standards,” he said.

Mr. Nyoni added that the project is aimed at decongesting Alick Nkhata Road and improving the deteriorated state of the police road.

Meanwhile, some Kalingalinga residents have welcomed the development, saying the road had been filled with potholes and was previously avoided by motorists.

“Now it will be easier for people to reach their destinations faster because Alick Nkhata Road will be decongested,” said Bridget Mwewa.

A STUDENT ON SELF SPONSORSHIP

By Morgan Joe Nondo

As I approach the end of my academic journey at the University of Zambia, I reflect on the past four years with gratitude and determination. Despite facing challenges with loan applications, I have relied on my company, MN Companies Inc, to financially support my studies. It's not been easy, but quitting was never an option.

Tertiary education is expensive, and the costs go beyond tuition fees. From groceries to rent and transport, it requires careful financial management.

Family? They have been very supportive. However, circumstances can only allow for so much- with Dad and Mom both retired, I can only ask for so much. What about your siblings or other relatives? well, circumstances again can only for so much.

As I prepare for graduation, I am still working to clear a balance of over K70,000. I am not asking for handouts, but rather, I am calling for your support.

My name is Morgan Nondo, a student at the University of Zambia in my final and 4th year, CEO of MN Companies Inc, a multimedia and Marketing Agency, drawn from John Laing compound in Kanyama Constituency.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
- Recommend me and my business, MN Companies Inc, a multimedia and marketing agency.
- Check out my company page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61576899753350&mibextid=ZbWKwL

To my UNZA family, I appreciate your support, respect, and encouragement. It's made my journey more manageable. To fellow students on self-sponsorship, I say: stay focused and persevere. We will get there one day.
