Is it?

๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฒ Findeco House: The tallest building in Zambia, located in the central business district of Lusaka.
Key facts:
Height: Approximately 90 metres (295 feet)
Floors: 23 storeys
Completed: 1978โ€“1979
Location: Corner of Cairo Road and Independence Avenue, Lusaka
Primary use: Office and commercial space

FINDECO House has held the title of Zambiaโ€™s tallest building for decades and remains one of the countryโ€™s most recognizable landmarks. It was designed by Yugoslav architects Duลกan Milenkoviฤ‡ and Branimir Ganoviฤ‡.

Interestingly, some recent local discussions suggest that the newer Pyramid Continental Hotel may have surpassed FINDECO House in physical height, but FINDECO House is still the officially recognized tallest completed building in major skyscraper databases and references.

President Hichilema Calls for Stronger Public-Private Partnerships to Drive Investment and Job Creation

President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed the importance of the Public-Private Dialogue Forum (PPDF) as a key driver of Zambiaโ€™s economic reform agenda, urging for a stronger focus on investment, partnerships and job creation.

Speaking during the Mid-Year Private Sector Day, President Hichilema said the next phase of economic growth must extend beyond infrastructure development and unlock opportunities in critical sectors such as mining, energy, agriculture and manufacturing.

The President emphasised the need for increased private sector participation, encouraging businesses to strengthen value chains, expand transactions among themselves and support investment-led economic growth.

He further called for the PPDF to become more results-oriented by delivering tangible outcomes through increased investments, partnerships and employment opportunities.

President Hichilema also stressed the need to eliminate unnecessary regulations, bureaucratic processes and multiple licensing requirements that hinder business expansion.

He said Governmentโ€™s objective remains focused on reducing barriers, increasing investment, creating jobs and promoting shared prosperity for all Zambians.

Common Wellbeing, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, conducted a rheumatic heart disease (RHD) screening initiative at Kapwelyomba Primary School. Through these screenings, several learners requiring further assessment were identified and referred to the National Heart Hospital for specialised investigations and follow up care.

Rheumatic heart disease continues to affect many young lives despite being largely preventable and manageable when detected early. Initiatives such as these highlight the importance of timely screening in identifying children who may require intervention before complications develop.

This collaboration demonstrates the value of partnerships in improving access to specialised care. If expanded nationwide, school and community based screening programmes could strengthen the fight against RHD through early detection and timely intervention for children across Zambia.
