The second biggest statue we have on our continent.

Le Monument Amazone (Cotonou, Benin): Standing at 30 meters (98 feet), this majestic steel and bronze monument honors the Agojie (the famous "Dahomey Amazons").

It was unveiled in 2022 and celebrates the historic female warriors of the region.

The street of Cotonou is streeting.Nearly 7 years to come, we cannot differentiate between Cotonou and Chicago 🤔

Instantly back in Cotonou after flooding wahala in Accra😁. And surprisingly, crossing the Togo-Benin border at Hillacondji is really seamless. At this point, I feel the advantage of having different places you can call home on the continent.

Nana Kofi writes..

I am a Ghanaian living in Benin 🇧🇯, where I have my businesses and family. Let me share why I believe their system works:

1. There is very little political division after elections. People do not spend their time going to radio stations to engage in endless political debates. The focus is largely on the development of the country.

2. President Patrice Talon may not have the same educational background as some other leaders, but he has a strong personality and is highly disciplined. He is known for taking a firm stance against corruption and against anyone who attempts to undermine the state.

3. Beninese citizens are generally law-abiding and supportive of their government. Public demonstrations are relatively uncommon compared to many other countries.

4. They do not boast about their achievements. Many major projects are completed without expensive inauguration ceremonies or excessive publicity. Development is treated as something normal rather than an occasion for celebration.

5. Beninese people generally take pride in quality work. In many sectors, you can see a strong emphasis on doing things properly and maintaining high standards.

6. Benin is known for its religious tolerance. Vodun (Voodoo) is recognized as both a religion and an important part of the country's cultural heritage. Different religious groups coexist peacefully and respect one another. Public holidays are observed for various religious traditions.

7. The French-based education system is quite demanding. The level of examinations at different stages of education is rigorous, and examination malpractice is not widely tolerated.

8. In general, the country has systems that function effectively, and these systems are contributing to its progress. Security is also relatively strong.

I hope the next government continues the work of its predecessor. If it can achieve even half as much, the country will continue making remarkable progress.
