Mtendere youth dies after reported battle with depression!
A young man from Lusaka’s Mtendere area, Pempula Simfukwe, has died following what close family sources describe as a suspected su***de.
According to the sources, Simfukwe had reportedly been battling depression for several months and had recently been drinking heavily.
His death has drawn attention to one of his recent social media posts, in which he reflected on the death of a young woman who had reportedly taken her own life.
He wrote on his page recently;
I came across this story of a young woman who reportedly took her life over the boyfriend😭💔My heartfelt condolences goes to the family💔...Have seen so many opinions on this but the truth is, there is always more than what meets the eye. We can assume and conclude, but we do not truly understand what she carried within or what truly lead to all of it. It is not our place to judge, it is our place to learn‼️Suicide is not a moment,it is an accumulation of silent battles, unseen pain, and emotions that slowly become too heavy to carry.& if what was reported is the case,then let this be a moment of awareness, not judgment.This is not just a loss, it is a lesson, a call for us to grow in emotional awareness, to build strength within ourselves, and to see beyond the surface of people’s lives.There's always a life beyond the person, even when the pain makes it impossible to see💔
The circumstances surrounding Simfukwe’s death have not been independently verified and further details from the family or Police are awaited.
His death has left relatives, friends and members of the Mtendere community mourning.
