Dear Honorable Government Officials,

I, Vincent Phiri, a youth affected by the current challenges in the Zambian trucking industry, bring to your attention the difficulties faced by upcoming truck drivers. RATSA issues heavy-duty licenses (Class CE, PSV G) to individuals aged 18, yet trucking companies prefer drivers aged 25+. This discrepancy limits job opportunities for youth like myself. I hold a Class CE PSV G license but was rejected for a driving test due to age considerations at 22.

We propose that the government considers enacting a law requiring trucking companies to employ and train licensed drivers from age 18. This will help youth gain experience, reduce unemployment among licensed drivers, and support the growth of the Zambian trucking industry.
