‎2025 TO MARK FINAL JUNIOR SECONDARY EXTERNAL EXAMINATIONS
‎Minister of Education, Douglas Syakalima, has announced that the 2025 Junior Secondary External and Junior Secondary School Leaving Examinations will be the last of their kind under the 2013 Zambia Education Curriculum Framework.

‎Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Syakalima explained that the decision aligns with the implementation of the 2023 Zambia Education Curriculum Framework.

‎Mr. Syakalima noted that students who enter Form 1 in 2025 will progress to Form 2 in 2026 without the need to sit for the Junior Secondary External Exams.

‎He further stated that pupils who fail the 2025 Junior Secondary External Exams and choose to repeat Grade 9 in 2026 would not gain any academic advantage, as they would still require four years to qualify for the School Certificate Examinations in 2029.

‎“Considering the timeline, it is more beneficial for candidates who fail the 2025 exam to start afresh in Form 1 in 2026 and complete their School Certificate at Form 4 in 2029,” said Mr. Syakalima.

‎He urged all stakeholders to support the Ministry’s ongoing education reforms, which are aimed at transforming Zambia into a prosperous middle-income nation by 2030.

‎Meanwhile, Examination Council of Zambia (ECZ) Director of Test Development, Albert Siamunaku, said the transition aligns with the competence-based curriculum, which emphasizes the application of knowledge, skills, and values to solve real-world challenges.

‎Mr. Siamunaku disclosed that 83 staff members from ECZ and the Ministry of Education have been trained in Competence-Based Assessment (CBA), along with 107 setters, to effectively implement the new curriculum.

‎He added that the finalization of the new assessment schemes is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2025.

‎TRUMP WANTS OBAMA ARRESTED
‎US President Donald Trump accused former President Barack Obama on Tuesday of orchestrating a coup against him, as he suggested there should be “severe consequences” and urged authorities to “go after” him.

‎Speaking alongside Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos in the Oval Office, Trump responded to a question about disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and convicted child s*x trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell by shifting the focus to Obama.

‎“The witch hunt that you should be talking about is they caught President Obama,” he said.

‎“What they did to this country … starting in 2016 but … going up to 2020 … they tried to rig the election, and they got caught and there should be very severe consequences for that,” said Trump.

‎He also accused Obama of direct involvement, asserting: “Obama’s been caught directly … His orders are on the paper. The papers are signed.”

‎Trump suggested what officials have in hand is more than evidence but “irrefutable proof that Obama was seditious, that Obama … was trying to lead a coup.”

‎Trump suggested what officials have in hand is more than evidence but “irrefutable proof that Obama was seditious, that Obama … was trying to lead a coup.”

‎“What they did in 2016 and 2020 is criminal at the highest level,” he added.

‎“They tried to steal the election. They tried to obfuscate the election. They did things that nobody’s ever even imagined, even in other countries,” said Trump.

‎ZAMBIA POLICE ASKS DIRECTORS TO UPHOLD FIDUCIARY RESPONSIBILITIES AFTER ARREST OF ONE DIRECTOR
‎The Zambia Police Service has arrested Mr. Abel Ng’andu, 53, of PHI in Lusaka, on charges of Theft by Director, contrary to Section 279 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

‎Mr. Ng’andu, who serves as the Managing Director of Ng’andu Consulting Limited, is alleged to have misappropriated Five Hundred and Seventy-Five Thousand Kwacha (K575,000) belonging to the company.

‎According to a statement released by Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga, the incident occurred between October 17, 2024 and March 2025. During this period, an agent of Ng’andu Consulting — identified as Mr. Lusungu Nyirenda, Managing Director of Walumart Auto Company Limited — facilitated the sale of seven motor vehicles on behalf of Ng’andu Consulting.

‎The proceeds from the vehicle sales, totaling K575,000, were deposited into Mr. Ng’andu’s personal bank account instead of the company’s official account. Investigations have since established that Mr. Ng’andu used the funds for personal benefit.

‎He has since been released on police bond and is expected to appear in court soon.

‎In the wake of the arrest, the Zambia Police Service issued a stern reminder to company directors and officials about the importance of upholding fiduciary responsibility and corporate integrity.

‎“Any abuse of office for personal enrichment will not be tolerated. The Zambia Police Service remains committed to upholding the law and ensuring accountability in both public and private institutions,” Mr. Hamoonga said.
