SOMETHING FISHY
Detective Jane was the best in the business. Known for her sharp instincts and attention to detail, she rarely missed a clue. So, when Mr. Reen Crammer reported a peculiar smell in his mansion, Jane was called to investigate.
As she entered the grand home, the stench hit her immediately—a foul, overwhelming odor that permeated every room. Mr. Reen crammer, a wealthy and eccentric art collector, was convinced someone was trying to sabotage his upcoming gala.
"There's something fishy going on, Detective," he declared, wringing his hands. "I need you to get to the bottom of this before my guests arrive."
Jane nodded, her mind already racing through possibilities. She scoured the mansion from top to bottom, examining every nook and cranny, questioning the staff, and even checking the ventilation system. Hours passed, and still, the source of the smell eluded her.
Frustrated but determined, Jane decided to take a break in the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator to grab a bottle of water—and there it was. A large, rotting fish, wrapped in plastic, forgotten at the back of the shelf.
Jane couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity. "Mr. Reen Crammer," she called out, holding up the offending fish, "I believe I've found your 'something fishy.'"
Mr. Reen crammer blushed deeply, realizing his oversight. "Well, Detective," he said sheepishly, "I suppose you really did get to the bottom of it."
Sometimes, Jane thought, the real meaning of "something fishy" is all too literal.
