It was our pleasure hosting you.

On Wednesday, 20th August, 2025 we had the opportunity to interact virtually witj all the Constituents of Nkeyema who managed to listen in to our discussions relating to development in our area on Nkeyema Breeze FM 96.7.

In this regard; we are thankful to our brothers and sisters who had the foresight to put money and energy into this project of a Radio Station. What a fitting tribute to what we have always stated that development is not only big infrastructural projects or buildings but a spectrum of things which make the lives of the general citizenry easier and accessible to various services including knowledge sharing.

We were taken through a gruelling but pleasurable pounding by the Anchor of the Programme to highlight what our Team of elected officials comprising President Hakainde Hichilema, Council Chair the eight Councillors and yours trully had done for the people of Nkeyema since we were elected.

It was quite illustrative because if you listen to our Detractors and Enemies of Progress they will tell you that we have done nothing. But looking at the Score Card we were looking at more than one hundred and fifty projects supported during our watch through the following ways:
1. Private & Parastatal Companies as well local and international Non- Governmental organizations
2. Central Government
3. Local Government mainly through CDF
4. Children of Nkeyema including the elected officials and other well wishers
It was quite humbling to receive calls from places such as Kashea, Maloba, Shimano, Kamungomba, Kampombo and Matoya among other places.
In terms of services and projects a number are loading right now and the premier is the enumeration of more beneficiaries on the Social Cash Transfer starting on 25th August, 2025.
You know why this is important? Our fallen foes used to tell the fraternity that if you elect President Hakainde Hichilema and his Team they will stop the payment of the Social Cash Transfer because they are incapable to mobilize money and they are anti poor people. Here we; the number of beneficiaries have been increased so are the amounts and the numbers are still going up. Eating humble pie? That is Bally for you.

BOZ MONETARY POLICY COMMITTEE MAINTAINS MPR at 14.5 PERCENT.

By Mwatitha lubinga

The Bank of Zambia Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has decided to maintain the Monetary Policy Rate at 14.5 percent.

Addressing Journalists during its Second Quarterly media briefing on 11.08 2025 BOZ Governor Denny Kalyalya has attributed this to low inflation rate that has been recorded in the month of June and July respectively.

Dr Kalyalya notes that since the last MPC Meeting, inflation has been on a downward trend, falling to 14.1 percent in June and to 13.0 percent in July and is now projected to fall within the target band from the first quarter of 2026.

He highlights that while recognising these positive developments, the Committee noted that at the current level, inflation is well above the 6-8 percent target band, and at the same time, uncertainties associated with global trade policies and persistent geopolitical tensions remain.

He emphasized that the Committee also observed that, although market expectations of inflation have moderated, they remain high relative to the target band adding that since March 2025, inflation has been on a downward trend but declined to 14.1 percent in June from 16.5 percent in March and in July, this trend continued, with inflation dropping to 13.0 percent.

The Bank of Zambia Governor further underscored that the key drivers for this outturn were improved supply of maize, lower fuel prices, and the appreciation of the Kwacha against major currencies.

He says the declining trend in inflation is expected to continue over the next eight quarters projected to fall into the 6–8 percent target band in the first quarter of 2026, earlier than projected in May 2025.

Government, End Malaria Council Sign MoU to Boost Awareness

By Chansa K***a

Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Thabo Kawana, has emphasized the need to enhance advocacy in the fight against malaria.

Mr. Kawana stated that advocacy should begin at the family level, with children being sensitized on the importance of sleeping under treated mosquito nets.

He made the remarks in Lusaka yesterday during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Information and Media and the End Malaria Council.

Mr. Kawana noted that the MoU is timely, as the media are a critical and strategic partner in information dissemination. He said media institutions can play a vital role in amplifying the fight against malaria.

Speaking at the same event, End Malaria Fund Chairman, Peter Cottan, said the MoU aims to engage the government through various media platforms to raise awareness and strengthen efforts to combat malaria.

Kabuswe laments getting few likes when developmental stories are posted

MINES Minister Paul Kabuswe has expressed shock that developmental stories on social media attract as few as 20 likes and 13 comments, compared to scandals and negativity which draw far greater attention.

Speaking at a cocktail in Lusaka on Tuesday, Kabuswe urged the nation to shift its focus from scandalous news to progressive stories if the country is to move forward.

“I get shocked...when you go to social media, when you are talking development, you are going to find 20 likes, 13 comments.”

“But when you hear negativity, scandals, things skyrocket. I said, what do we appreciate as a society? We need to look at positives because that was what will build us. And we become a society that celebrates the firing of someone instead of celebrating when they are hired,” he said.

He also appealed to the media to be agents of positivity rather than negativity.

The minister used the opportunity to provide a detailed update on Zambia’s mining sector, which he said was breathing again after years of operational challenges and legal disputes.

Kabuswe revealed that Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) had sharply increased copper output since resuming operations under Vedanta Resources, following a period of closure during legal proceedings.

“When the President said ‘no mining in court, let’s mine on the mine site,’ KCM was closed. It had moved from care and maintenance to full closure. We just didn’t announce it at the time to avoid causing public panic,” said Kabuswe.

He noted that KCM’s production has grown from zero at the time of reopening to 38,000–40,000 tonnes and is now projected to reach 150,000 tonnes this year.

The minister stressed that increased production levels would have far-reaching economic benefits.

He stated that Zambia’s long-term goal of producing three million tonnes of copper annually would translate into billions of kwacha in tax revenue, alongside the creation of thousands of jobs.

“The benefit of having three million tonnes of copper is the direct jobs we will give to our people and the indirect jobs for suppliers and contractors,” he said.

Currently, KCM and Mopani Copper Mines combined, have expanded their workforce to 13,000 employees, in addition to supporting a wide network of local suppliers.

“The country is going places,” he said. “The mining sector is going up, and we should focus more on what is building us than what is breaking us,” said Kabuswe...https://kalemba.news/business/kabuswe-laments-getting-few-likes-when-developmental-stories-are-posted/

5 WILD DOGS SPORTED IN MUNKUYE 'S QUIET LIVING COMPOUND

Nkeyema Breeze Radio Station has received multiple reports from residents of Munkuye about the presence of wild animals in the area.

According to one caller, five wild dogs were seen passing through Quiet Living Compound earlier today. Another resident visited the station in person, expressing fear for her children’s safety as they walk to school daily.

However, not all residents agree on the identity of the animals. While some insist they were wild dogs, others believe they could be hyenas. Wildlife authority have been urged to investigate the sightings to ensure community safety.

Residents are advised to remain alert and keep children under supervision until the matter is resolved.
