It's today on 13/04/25
The sun shone brightly on the church grounds as the Mpika UPND aspiring candidate Hon Kennedy Chilambe, Constituency chair Mr George Mutale together with some senior party officials, filled with excitement and reverence, joined the Katibunga Catholic congregation on Palm Sunday in Chipembele ward. The air was filled with the scent of palm fronds, symbolizing peace and triumph.
As the priests began to read from the scriptures, the congregation listened intently. One of the readings came from Philippians 2:8, "And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross!" (NIV). The priest's words resonated deeply, reminding the congregation of Jesus' ultimate sacrifice.
The aspiring candidate felt a sense of gratitude for being part of this vibrant community and was inspired by the readings.
The celebration continued with hymns, prayers, and the distribution of palm fronds
And later on we where invited to the parish office where George Mutale spoke "On behalf of our constituency I George Mutale, I'd like to extend our gratitude to Father Bruno for warmly welcoming us to the church. As the constituency chair, it's my duty to introduce aspiring candidates vying for the MP position in our area. Today, I'm pleased to introduce Kennedy Chilambe, one of the nine candidates awaiting adoption. We appreciate the opportunity to engage with the community, and Kennedy Chilambe popular known KechiPro if elected, we look forward to continued collaboration.
During our interaction, concerns were raised about the challenges facing our area. Key issues include:
- *Road Infrastructure*: The poor state of roads hinders the transportation of farm produce to the central business district, affecting local farmers' livelihoods.
- *Water Access*: Residents are hesitant to draw water from the river due to the presence of hippos. Installing solar-powered water pumps could provide a safer and more reliable solution.
- *Bursary Allocation*: There's a perceived unfairness in the selection process for CDF bursaries, with local children seemingly overlooked.
We aim to address these challenges and work together to improve the lives of our constituents.
