LUNDAZI MAN D|ES AFTER WINNING K260,000 FROM BONANZA

A 43 year old man of Riverside Compound in Lundazi district has di€d in an unclear circumstance after winning K260, 000 from a gaming machine popularly known as Bonanza.

Undani Phiri was last seen alive on October 11, 2025 when he left home to go and take some locally brewed beer at an unknown place.

The now deceased is alleged to have gone home around 15:00 hours and informed his 60-year-old mother, Witness Chabinga, that he had won some bonanza money before he again left home on the same day to go and continue drinking beer.

East Police Chief, Robertson Mweemba said in Lundazi that the deceased person returned home around 23:30 hours in a drunken state and went to his bedroom to sleep.

On October 12, 2025, his mother went to wake him up around 06:00 hours, only to discover that he was unconscious and was rushed to Mwase Zonal Health Centre where he was pronounced d£ad on arrival.

Police suspect no foul play as no physical body injuries were found on him.

On October 24, 2025, Northern province athletics will be in action in Kaputa where we host Honorable Minister Elvis Nkandu for the independence day races.
The event will be attended by various officials from government and ZA which includes Major Benard Bwalya the ZA President and his entourage.
This will mark a significant step ahead as for the area boards as we unite various atheletees of the region in Celebrating Zambia's independence.

CHOLERA CASES RISE TO 281 AS VACCINATION EFFORTS CONTINUE

Four new cholera cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number to 281 since the latest outbreak was declared on 5th August 2025.

An update from the Zambia National Public Health Institute indicates that seven people are currently admitted and undergoing treatment, while four individuals were discharged in the last 24 hours.

Since the outbreak was declared, two people have died whilst receiving treatment in a facility.

Mpulungu District has the highest number of cases at 220, Nsama has 35, Mbala has 16, while both Senga Hill and Mpika have five cases each.

Meanwhile, 351 people from the affected areas have been vaccinated against cholera in the latest update, bringing the cumulative number of vaccinations to 128,808.

Two Thieves Murdered After Stealing a Motorcycle in Nakonde

Two men have been murdered and their bodies burnt by an instant justice mob in Nakonde district, Muchinga province, after they stole a motorbike.

This happened on Saturday, October 4, 2025, between 09 hours and 10 hours in Sukwa area of Nakonde.

Police Assistant Public Relations Officer, Godfrey Chilabi has confirmed the incident, saying investigations have been launched.

Mr Chilabi has explained that the two unidentified men had hired a motorcycle rider from Nakonde Central Business District to Nakalola village.

He says that upon arrival, the men robbed the rider of his motorbike.

Mr Chilabi says the two men were intercepted by members of the public who attacked and killed them using hoes before setting their bodies ablaze with petrol.

FORMER ZRA BOSS KINGSLEY CHANDA CONVICTED

The Lusaka Magistrate’s court has convicted former Zambia Revenue Authority ZRA Commissioner General Kingsley Chanda on three counts of willful failure to follow procedure.

His co - accused Callisius Kaoma has been found guilty and convicted of 16 counts of willful failure to follow procedure and acquitted of six.

The duo were jointly charged of willfull failure to follow procedure in the disposal of 22 ZRA vehicles.

They are yet to be sentenced.
