Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Mighty Mumba says government is committed to ensuring that the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is distributed equally to all corners of the country.
Mr. Mumba was speaking at the handover ceremony of completed CDF projects in Mwense constituency in Mwense district held at Kawama secondary school.
He said CDF is a pivotal initiative by government designed to foster grassroots development, empower communities, and address the diverse needs of the local people at the constituency level.
Mr. Mumba said this year, the local authority in Mwense will support 45 businesses, groups, and individuals with loans amounting to K4,595,000 which has already been approved.
“The government's commitment to equitable development across the nation is evident, as can be attested by the increase in CDF allocations over the past three years. This year, we have made substantial strides in supporting 45 businesses, groups, and individuals in Mwense. Loans totaling k4,595,000 have been approved, aimed at stimulating entrepreneurship, fostering innovation, and ultimately, creating sustainable livelihoods for our people,” Mr. Mumba said
He further said a total of k2,303,000 has been disbursed in grants benefiting 104 groups.
“This financial support is instrumental in driving community projects and initiatives that directly benefit our constituents,” Mr. Mumba said.
The permanent secretary added that 222 students in Mwense have been sponsored for various skills training programs at a cost of K 3,800,656 to equip the youths with the necessary skills to thrive in today's competitive job market.
He also said 333 pupils have been sponsored for boarding secondary school bursaries in Mwense at a cost of K1,068,000.
“Education remains a cornerstone of our government's agenda. We are proud to announce that 333 pupils have been sponsored for boarding secondary school bursaries in Mwense at a cost of k1,068,000, further underscoring our commitment to quality education for all,” he said.
The PS also handed over the first-ever 1 x 2 science laboratory at Kawama primary school constructed at a total cost of k950,034 and a modern ablution block and water scheme at Kapamba secondary school at a cost of k58,215.
