‎WHY TAYALI RISKS LOSING NDOLA CENTRAL CONSTITUENCY
‎
‎Ndola has four constituencies, and without doubt, Hon. Frank Museba Tayali stands out as the number one most hard-working MP among them. However, despite his diligence, many residents feel disconnected from him and may not support his re-election.
‎
‎The main issue lies not in his performance as an MP, but in the way he presents himself publicly. Just this morning, Hon. Tayali was seen at Arcades Shopping Mall, showing off his motorbike. This has left many wondering: how does such a display add value to his ministerial responsibilities or to the lives of the people of Ndola Central Constituency?
‎
‎This is not the first time his public image has raised questions. During the mealie meal shortage that hit Ndola in 2023 due to rampant smuggling, he posted a picture of himself at the gym, speaking about losing weight—a message that felt out of touch when people were struggling to put food on the table.
‎
‎At the height of load shedding, when citizens were desperate for hope, he chose instead to post pictures of himself playing with his dogs, describing them as his “latest additions” to the family. On other occasions, he has showcased his recreational life on his motorcycle.
‎
‎Of course, no one is against leaders enjoying their personal lives or hobbies. But timing and perception matter greatly. When citizens are facing hardship, leaders must communicate empathy and solidarity, not indulgence or self-promotion.
‎
‎Hon. Tayali may be Ndola’s most hard-working MP, but repeated displays of insensitivity are slowly eroding the goodwill he has built through his work. Unless he realigns his public image with the needs and sentiments of the people, his chances of re-election could be seriously undermined.
