NDOLA UNITED RECEIVES FOOTBALLS FROM ZAMBEZI OMNISPORT CHAIR
Ndola United Football Club has received the third batch of matchday footballs from Canada based Zambezi Omnisport Chair Chasaya Sichilima, fulfilling his pledge to donate a total of twelve balls to the club. The handover ceremony took place at Ambassador Hotel, where five balls were presented to complete the donation, following an initial set of two given, starting last year in September. Mr. Clement Munyima, made the presentation to the Ndola United FC President Edwin Sisya on behalf of Chasaya.
In receiving the balls, Mr. Sisya expressed gratitude to Chasaya for the gesture. “Thank you very much once again, on behalf of the Ndola United Football Club Executive. As President of the Executive, I would like to encourage Mr. Chasaya to continue the support that he has given to Ndola United Football Club. We are on our knees. If this continues, we will shame the critics. “
In a speech read on his behalf by Mr. Munyima, Mr. Sichilima reaffirmed his commitment to Ndola United.
"I stand before you today not only as a lifelong supporter of Ndola United, but also as someone who deeply believes in the potential of this great club. In September last year, I made a small gesture—a donation of two match balls to the club. At the time, I made a promise that more would come. I’m happy to say that as of this past week, that promise has been fulfilled. The 5 balls presented today, bring the total to twelve balls to Ndola United. It's a modest contribution, but one that comes from the heart."
He also praised the club’s executive committee for appointing Tenant Chembo as head coach.
"I also want to congratulate the new executive for a bold and inspiring decision—the hiring of Tenant Chembo as head coach. This is not just a coaching appointment—it’s a full-circle moment. Tenant is one of our own. Discovered while still in primary school by club legend Mustapha Kalizamani, Ndola United played a crucial role in grooming him, and today he returns to lead the club forward."
He appealed to the Executive to explore new partnerships, and thanked the Council for the sponsorship.
“I urge the executive to build on the solid work of past leaderships, to seek new partnerships, and to consult widely, including with former players and administrators who still carry the club in their hearts. Their experience and wisdom are invaluable.
To the Ndola City Council, thank you for your continued support and sponsorship. I do hope the Council allows the executive more freedom in the day-to-day running of the club. Local government has many responsibilities—perhaps it’s time to give the football team room to grow with new partners and fresh energy.”
In his concluding remarks, Sichilima called for unity and coordination among supporters.
"Now is the time for unity and coordination. Whether you're based here at home or in the diaspora, let’s come together and support the team. With Tenant at the helm, the future is bright—but let’s also ensure the team is well-resourced and motivated."
Ndola United will compete in the Zambian Premier League (ZPL) National League for the second consecutive season after narrowly escaping relegation last year. Their survival was secured on the final day with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Jumulo FC at Musa Kasonka Stadium.
