"If you love someone, let them go". Why would you ever let somebody you love go?
Sometimes, we have to let go of people we still want in our lives because we've realized they let go first. Moving on is necessary and eventually, the pain lessens. We start to understand why they did what they did, recognizing that it takes two to tango. We learn that not everyone we meet will stay in our lives forever; some are just passing characters in our story, teaching us lessons and helping us grow. Letting go may be hard, but it's important to accept it, even if we don't want to.
Initially, the pain is intense. We cry ourselves to sleep, our eyes swollen and nose blocked. The pain follows us, triggering memories as we pass familiar places. We question if we ever meant anything to them. But here's the thing: we can't have expectations. The way we love someone doesn't determine how they love us in return. Connections with people don't always mean they're meant for us, and this applies to both friendships and relationships.
The toughest part of losing someone is learning to live without them, especially when we see them moving on without us. It hurts, but we can't blame them. True love means wanting someone to be happy even if it's without us. However, if we don't want them to let go, it becomes a source of concern. Seeking love to fill the void rarely works out; it feels forced and lacks the purity of unexpected connections. Love should come naturally, bringing healing and making the world a less bitter place.
These experiences make us stronger and wiser. We become more aware of how fragile but powerful love can be. We choose more carefully who we allow ourselves to love.
