ECZ in dilemma, says Veep

VICE-PRESIDENT Mutale Nalumango says Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) is torn between a rock and hard place regarding the Kabushi and Kwacha by-elections because there are many cases before the courts.

Speaking during the Vice President’s Question Time in Parliament yesterday, Mrs Nalumango said Government respects the provisions of the Constitution and will not go against them.

Mrs Nalumango was responding to Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Brian Mundubile on what Government is doing to protect the Constitution following ECZ’s decision to allow the Kabushi and Kwacha by elections to proceed despite cases over the matter being active in court.

“There are many matters before the court and the ECZ finds itself between the rock and the hard place, it becomes difficult,” she said.

“The courts are aware of their constitutional provisions and ECZ is also aware.

✍️On 23 August 2011, during the Battle of Tripoli, Gaddafi lost effective political and military control of Tripoli after his compound was captured by rebel forces.

✍️On 25 August 2011, the Arab League proclaimed the anti-Gaddafi National Transitional Council to be "the legitimate representative of the Libyan state".

✍️On 16 September 2011, the United Nations General Assembly sat the representatives of the National Transitional Council as Libya's official delegation.

✍️20 October 2011 Gaddafi was slained fulfulling his prophecies "I am a Bedouin warrior who brought glory to Libya and will die a martyr".
Today Libya is under the Western control therefore fulfulling his prophecy
"There is an intention to colonise Libya. And this makes the Libyan people want to fight the new colonisation by the West , Gaddafi !.

The West sees liberation movements as terrorist movements, and that is why I am accused of supporting terrorism: because I support liberation movements, Colonel MUAMAR Gaddafi once said .

Good morning fellow citizens

Accompanied by my wife Mutinta, we have left for the Republic of Namibia to participate in that country's annual Swakopmund International Trade Expo (SWAiTEX).

Hosted by my elder brother His Excellency Dr. Hage Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia, we have been requested to deliver a keynote address at the Expo as well as attend the Zambia-Namibia Business Seminar and reinforce the existing strong bilateral relations with our brothers and sisters in that country.

In line with our declaration that Zambia is open for business once again, we shall actively engage with potential investors and partners to advance efforts to re-establish Zambia as an investment destination of choice and set out our Government’s vision for a resilient and sustainable economy that delivers benefits for all Zambians.

We fully realise that our civil service cannot absorb everyone in terms of job opportunities hence our quest to seek for potential investors to partner with our citizens in mining, finance, tourism, energy, transport, medical, education, fisheries, logistics, commercial and retail services, construction, among others and create quality jobs for our citizens in the private sector.

Our participation in this trade and investment Expo also underscores our desire to deepen intra-African trade and collaboration for countries in the southern African region and the continent at large.

Government will officially place the adverts for the defense recruitment this week in the newspaper.

Like I mentioned earlier, prospective applicants wishing to join Zambia Army , ZAF or ZNS should not panic into bribing individuals whom they would think would help them get recruited. This recruitment is not about who you know; we have demonstrated that the new dawn government wants to see every Zambian have a fair share of the national cake. Therefore, those who will receive bribes and those who will bribe others once found will be prosecuted.

4 NABBED OVER GREAT NORTH ROAD 10 MILES CONGESTION

Police in Lusaka detained four Chibombo Town Council levy collectors and an officer from the forestry department in Central Province for collecting levy and causing congestion at the Nine Miles check-point on the Great North Road.

The tax collectors would routinely cause congestion stretching for many kilometres causing motorists to spend as many as four hours in a traffic jam.

The workers were arrested on Friday around 11:00 hours while carrying out duties and were only released after Chibombo Council Chairperson Newton Nyeleti made an appearance at Ngwerere police station around 17:00 hours the same day.

NDOLA PUPIL CHOOSES MARRIAGE OVER SCHOOL

A twenty-four-year-old grade 12 pupil in Ndola has spurned her mother's plea to complete secondary school in favour of marriage in a one-room house.

Martha Mwila told the court that she wanted to get married to the man that had impregnated her because no one else would take care of her child.

Martha's mother Charity Mwila, 43, sued Wilson Chibesa, 27, saying he eloped with her daughter without her consent and demanded that he return her home so that she could continue with her education.

ZCS to Continue Training it's Officers

Zambia Correctional Service (ZCS) Deputy Commissioner Daniel Chiwela has assured officers of continued capacity building training.

Speaking when he closed a five days training workshop for correctional officers in protocol duties and etiquettes, Mr. Chiwela who is Director- Training said the Service will continue conducting different trainings to enhance officer’s capacity.

He explained that it is the obligation of the Service to conduct capacity building training for Serving officers.

“Conducting different courses for officers is an obligation as stipulated in the Minimum Standard Rules (Mandela Rules) in order to develop competency,” he said.

Mr. Chiwela expressed confidence that with the knowledge gained officers will perform to the Service’s expectation.
And giving a vote of thanks, inspector Alex Njovu assured Mr. Chiwela to expect exceptional performance from the Officers.
Over 60 correctional service officers from different regions attended the training which was held at ZCS Training College in Kabwe.

GODFRIDAH SUMAILI CHALLENGES WOMEN AND YOUTH TO CONTEST THE PF PRESIDENCY

Former Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Godfridah Sumaili has challenged women and the youth to contest the PF Presidency following the call for applications by the party secretariat.

Reverend Sumaili says women and the youth should not shy away from taking up leadership positions saying the call for applications gives them the opportunity to challenge for the highest position in the party.

And Reverend Sumaili has told Hot FM News that the call for applications for the party Presidency by the PF has signified the growth of intra-party democracy in the former ruling party.
