FIFA announces £45 World Cup tickets in climbdown after outcry over pricing

FIFA has announced "more affordable" tickets for all 104 matches at next year's World Cup after an outcry over pricing.

The cheapest tickets will now be on offer from $60 (£45) as part of a new "Supporter Entry Tier" which will be available specifically to supporters of qualified teams.
However, only 10% of participating member association's allocated tickets will fall under this most affordable category.

As a result, the number of $60 tickets for each game is likely to be in the hundreds, rather than thousands.

Supporter value tier prices will apply to 40% of their tickets with the remaining 50% being split evenly between supporter standard tier and supporter premier tier.

Ronan Evain, the executive director of Football Supporter's Europe (FSE), a group that represents the interests of supporters in European football, said the group was "looking at the FIFA announcement as nothing more than an appeasement tactic due to the global negative backlash".

He added: "This shows that FIFA's ticketing policy is not set in stone, was decided in a rush, and without proper consultation - including with FIFA's own member associations."

While he welcomed FIFA's "seeming recognition of the damage its original plans were to cause", he insisted "the revisions do not go far enough to reconcile" the harm done.

National Heroes Stadium Pitch Upgrade on Track as Grass Takes Root – Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu

The upgrade works on the National Heroes Stadium pitch are progressing smoothly. We carried out a site inspection yesterday to review progress after the grass seeds were recently planted.

The contractor is optimistic about hitting key milestones over the coming weeks, and we are eager to see the significant improvements as the project nears completion.

Chipolopolo Boys head coach Moses Sichone has named his final 28 member squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Leicester City forward Patson Daka, Saudi Arabia based forward Fashion Sakala, US Lecce winger Lameck Banda and Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfield ace Klings Kangwa lead the squad named for the continental showpiece.
Sichone has also included youngsters Joseph Liteta of Cagliari Calcio and defender David Hamansenya of CD Leganés.
FC MUZA midfielder Given Kalusa and Kafue Celtic forward on loan at Sensational ZANACO Eliya Mandanji have also made the cup.
In form Kingston Mutandwa has not made the cut alongside CD Leganés midfielder Gift Siame.
The Chipolopolo Boys will today leave for Murcia, Spain, for the final phase of preparations. The Spain camp will run from December 11–17, 2025 before the team jets into Morocco for the tournament.
Zambia could face the Leopards of DR Congo and the Elephants of Ivory Coast in preparatory matches while in Spain.
Zambia is in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, West African giants Mali, and Comoros.

Two Zambian Athletes Selected for 2025 Africa Youth Games in Angola
