Claims that bodybuilding reduces male organ size are false, a Malawian medical professional has said, dismissing a belief that has circulated widely in local community discussion groups.

Mr. Petani Mtenga, a health practitioner in Malawi, explained that gym workouts do not cause any reduction in male organ size. According to him, the misconception arises because bodybuilding increases muscle mass, making the rest of the body appear larger while the male organ remains unchanged.

He said the male organ neither grows nor shrinks as a result of gym training but maintains its natural size. As muscles develop through exercise, the contrast can create the impression that it has become smaller, even though no physical change has occurred.

The topic has sparked heated debate in several community groups across the country, with some people claiming that regular gym attendance negatively affects male sexual health.

Medical experts, however, say there is no scientific evidence to support these claims.
