POLITICAL VIOLENCE HAS NO PLACE IN ZAMBIA'S DEMOCRACY

The images before us is a painful reminder that political violence serves no one. Whether the injured person is a police officer, a political supporter, a candidate, or an ordinary citizen, every act of violence undermines the peace, dignity, and democratic values that Zambia has long cherished.

Elections should be a contest of ideas, policies, and leadership; not intimidation, roadblocks, assaults, or bloodshed. Political differences are inevitable in a democracy, but they must always be expressed through respectful dialogue and the ballot box rather than through force. Violence only deepens divisions, destroys trust, and leaves lasting wounds on families and communities.

As we prepare to exercise our democratic right, all political parties, supporters, security agencies, and citizens have a shared responsibility to reject violence in every form. Leaders must inspire peace through their words and actions, while supporters should remember that today's political rivals remain fellow citizens tomorrow.

May Zambia continue to be known not for political conflict, but for peaceful elections, mutual respect, and a commitment to justice. The future of our nation will not be secured by fists or weapons, but by wisdom, tolerance, and the collective determination to protect the dignity of every human person.
