KAPOCHE CONSTITUENCY COUNSELORS UNITE TO LOBBY FOR MORE WATER PROJECTS AMIDST MISINFORMATION
In a united front, the area Member of Parliament for Kapoche Constituency, Hon. Luckson Lungu, convened a crucial meeting with councilors representing all five wards within the constituency – Kapoche, Luandazi, Sivwa, Nchingilizya, and Chamakuwi – at the Protea Hotel in Chipata. The primary objective of the gathering was to engage with Innovation Africa, an organization known for its impactful water reticulation projects across the continent, to advocate for an expansion of their initiatives within Kapoche.
According to sources present at the meeting, the atmosphere was one of collaborative effort and determination. The elected leaders, representing various levels of governance within the constituency, underscored their shared commitment to improving access to clean and reliable water for their constituents. This united lobbying effort aimed to build upon the progress already made in the area through existing water projects.
Speaking after the meeting, a representative of the councilors emphasized that advocating for development projects is a core responsibility of their roles.
"As elected leaders, it is our duty to actively seek out partnerships and opportunities that will benefit the people we serve," the representative stated. "This meeting with Innovation Africa is a testament to our proactive approach in addressing the critical issue of water access in Kapoche."
However, the spirit of unity was somewhat dampened by reports of misinformation circulating within the constituency. The leaders present expressed concern over claims allegedly being spread by some aspiring candidates for political office. These individuals are reportedly misleading the public by suggesting that Innovation Africa is not working in collaboration with the current area Member of Parliament, Hon. Luckson Lungu.
In response to these misleading narratives, the gathered leaders issued a strong rebuttal. They affirmed the existing positive working relationship between Hon. Lungu and Innovation Africa, highlighting the successful water projects already implemented in Kapoche as evidence of this collaboration.
"It is disheartening to see some individuals resorting to falsehoods for their own political gain," stated one of the ward councilors. "The truth is that Hon. Lungu has been instrumental in facilitating the partnership with Innovation Africa, and we are here today to build on that foundation, not dismantle it."
The leaders collectively urged the residents of Kapoche Constituency to disregard these unfounded claims and to recognize the ongoing efforts being made by their elected representatives to bring tangible development to the area.
Councilors present reiterated their commitment to transparency and assured the community that they would continue to work diligently with organizations like Innovation Africa to address the pressing needs of the constituency, with water reticulation remaining a top priority.
The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and a clear message: the elected leaders of Kapoche are united in their efforts to secure more water projects for the benefit of all residents, and they will not be deterred by misleading information aimed at undermining their collaborative work. Further updates on the progress of these lobbying efforts are expected in due course.
