You may face battles that seem bigger than you, doors that seem impossible to open, and moments when fear tells you to give up. But remember: you are not facing them alone. The God who brought you this far is still with you. His presence is your strength, His promises are your assurance, and His faithfulness is your confidence. If God is with you, you have every reason to keep going (Deuteronomy 31:6).

MANYINGA COUNCIL CHAIRPERSON INSPECTS MATERNITY ANNEX AND BUS STATION PROJECTS ON HER FIRST DAY IN OFFICE.

By Joseph Kamawu

Manyinga District Council Chairperson Ms. Doris Ding'ombi today, on her first day in office, inspected the state-of-the-art maternity annex at Loloma Mission Hospital and the bus station projects in the district.

Speaking during the inspection, Ms. Ding'ombi expressed satisfaction with the second and third contractors engaged to construct the maternity annex for demonstrating hard work and commitment to the project.

She said the project should be completed within the stipulated timeframe so that the people of Manyinga and neighbouring districts can access the facility in a conducive environment, unlike the current situation where expectant mothers are attended to in unconducive conditions.

The Council Chairperson disclosed that under her tenure, no contractor will be allowed to delay projects or deliver substandard works.

She warned that failure to complete works within the agreed timeframe will lead to termination of contracts, regardless of who is involved.

The civic leader also bemoaned the delayed completion of the bus station project, stating that the shelter will be modified to a modern standard as expected by the residents.

And Manyinga Town Council Secretary Dr. Gift Sakanyi said the maternity annex is progressing well, with works at 60 to 75 percent completion. He expressed confidence that the project will be completed by the end of December.

Dr. Sakanyi called on contractors to double their efforts and ensure quality works are delivered in the district.

He said works at the bus station, which is funded under the Zambia Devolution Support Programme (ZDSP), are also progressing well and expressed hope that the station will be operational by the end of the year.

He added that several other projects funded under the increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF) are underway, stressing that shoddy works will not be tolerated.

Speaking earlier, Manyinga District Director of Engineering Services Mr. Mafwe Kaonga echoed the Council Chairperson's sentiments, saying the inspected projects are progressing well.

Eng. Kaonga said projects should be of good quality and delivered on time to enable the local authority to undertake more development projects.

He urged both current and prospective contractors to demonstrate hard work and adhere to standards as stipulated in the contract forms.

Meanwhile Loloma Ward Councillor Mr. Steven Masumba said the UPND Government does not want to see substandard works.

He said he will also be inspecting projects in his ward to ensure they meet the required standards.
