Five Emakhandeni–Luveve Schools Receive Starlink Kits in Digital Push
Five primary schools in Emakhandeni–Luveve Constituency have received Starlink internet kits in a move set to enhance digital learning and improve access to online educational resources.
The beneficiary schools—Emakhandeni Primary School, Mafakela Primary School, Josiah Chinamano Primary School, Fusi Primary School and Nzwananzi Primary School—were selected through a community-driven WhatsApp poll, reflecting growing efforts to involve residents in local development decisions.
The donation was made by the area’s Member of Parliament, Honourable Descent Bajila Ndlovu, under Phase 2 of the Emakhandeni–Luveve Community Connect Programme. The initiative builds on an earlier phase which saw connectivity extended to Luveve Youth Centre.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Honourable Bajila said the programme is aimed at ensuring universal access to high-speed internet across schools in the constituency.
“The programme is designed to ensure universal access to high-speed internet across all schools in the constituency,” he said.
“We deliberately integrated community participation in the allocation of development resources, as it is central to democratic governance and the devolution agenda.”
He added that the installation of the Starlink kits will help both learners and teachers adapt to Zimbabwe’s heritage-based curriculum by improving access to research materials and enabling real-time learning in classrooms.
The legislator also confirmed that initial subscription costs have been covered, with Emakhandeni Primary School receiving two months’ subscription in recognition of strong community support during the selection process.
Teachers from the beneficiary schools welcomed the development, saying it will significantly ease research for pupils and improve lesson delivery through access to up-to-date digital content.
“This will make learning more interactive and allow our students to access information in real time,” said one teacher.
The initiative aligns with Zimbabwe’s National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), particularly in advancing the digital economy, inclusive service delivery, and human capital development. It also contributes to global targets under the Sustainable Development Goals, including quality education, industry and innovation, and reduced inequalities.
Honourable Bajila revealed that Phase 3 of the programme is expected to roll out in the second quarter of 2026, with anticipated support from the Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services.
The Emakhandeni–Luveve Community Connect Programme forms part of broader efforts to expand internet access, equip communities with digital skills, and position citizens to actively participate in Zimbabwe’s transition towards an upper-middle-income economy.
