French Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Paul-Bertrand Barets toured Matenda Garden in Masvingo Central Ward 18 to assess progress made under the drought relief initiative funded by the French Government.
The ambassador was accompanied by Masvingo province Permanent Secretary, Addmore Pazvakavambwa, Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) representative Louis Muhigirwa and delegates from World Vision.
Barets expressed satisfaction with the garden’s progress. He said the French Government decided to assist the community when the El Niño induced drought affected villagers.

Zimbabwe’s Cabinet has greenlit the Principles of the Road Accident Fund Bill, aimed at revamping the country’s post-accident management framework.
This was said by the Minister of Information and Publicity, Hon Jenfan Muswere in the Post Cabinet briefing in the recent past.
The existing insurance system has been criticised for lacking provisions for immediate evacuation of accident survivors to medical facilities.

Mutare’s First Class High School shone at last week’s Lesotho Spelling Bee Regional Competition held in Maseru, Lesotho after two Form 1 pupils scooped gold and silver medals.
This was the school’s first appearance at the regional competition.
Tinaye Chineka scooped gold in the Form One category and received an Econet Prime Lite cell phone and ZAR500 from Econet Telecom Lesotho, Faith Mangere received a silver medal and a trophy in the same category.
