Convicted serial ra**st Charles Matanga who is serving a 72-year-jail term for eight counts of r**e is set to undergo a murder trial at the High Court in Masvingo.
Matanga terrorised Chivi and Masvingo villagers in 2017 and 2018. He has 11 pending r**e, attempted r**e, unlawful entry and theft charges.
He allegedly r**ed and murdered Resphina Machingura (66) in 2017. The trial couldn’t proceed after Matanga feigned madness and told the court that he is a satanist who drinks his victims’ blood and enjoys forced and unprotected in*******se with women and minors.

Gutu Central, ward 22 councilor, Thandavanhu Simbanegavi is accused of turning a newly built community clinic into a beerhall. The clinic was built from villagers’ sweat; they moulded bricks and provided labour during construction while Gutu RDC provided cement, roofing material, door and window frames. The clinic whose construction started in 2010 is yet to be opened. Ward 22 has no clinic thereby forcing villagers to walk 10km to the nearest health service center. Simbanegavi said that the only time she used the clinic was when Minister of State for Security, Lovemore Matuke had an outreach function in the area.

The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) commemorated the 2026 Desertification and Drought Day on Wednesday at Zama Zama Nursery Project together with several other GEF7 partners. The Desertification and Drought Day is held annually on June 17 to raise awareness about the threats of land degradation, drought and desertification. The commemorations were attended by several Global Emplementary Fund 7 (GEF7).

City of Mutare is the winner of the 2026 Inter Municipal school sport games held at Mucheke Stadium last Friday.
Mutare scooped four gold, four silver and a bronze medals to win the trophy.
Host, Masvingo City Council finished second with three gold, five silver and two bronze medals.
City of Harare finished third with three gold medals while Ruwa finished fourth with two gold, a silver and seven bronze medals. Kwekwe finished fifth with a silver and a bronze medal.

“I will give you as a light to the nations.”

A reading from the Book of Isaiah (ISAIAH 49: 1 – 6)

Listen to me, O Islands, and pay attention, you peoples from afar. The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name. He made my mouth like a sharp sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me a polished arrow, in his quiver he hid me away. Tafadzwa Matanhuse accused President Mnangagwa and tenderpreneur Wicknell Chivhayo of being responsible for destroying vendor stalls in Chiredzi and throwing tens of vulnerable families into possible starvation. He described Mnangagwa and Chivhayo as dogs, selfish people who are not concerned about the poor and challenged them to kill him if they so wish. He said it is ridiculous that these two donate expensive cars to the rich when the poor are starving. He said Mnangagwa is not going to care anymore about the people after getting 2 years term extension from Parliament. Tafadzwa speaks for the silent majority because what he says is what is on every Zimbabwean's lips. ZRP has been looking for Tafadzwa. He was arrested yesterday and charged.
