I lead Raincemba Publishing, a women-led, indigenous children’s book publisher dedicated to transforming the reading culture while addressing key global issues through literature. Our mission is to produce early learning storybooks that are accessible, affordable, and focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These books aim to educate children and their parents on critical themes such as sustainability, climate change, gender equality, and health. By incorporating these themes into our stories, we contribute to raising a generation that is both informed and inspired to engage with the world's challenges.
Beyond children's publishing, I offer a comprehensive suite of publishing consultancy services tailored to authors, corporates, NGOs, and government agencies. These services include writing, editing, design, and publishing support, ensuring that clients have access to the resources they need to produce quality publications, regardless of their location. This is particularly crucial for authors in underserved communities and the diaspora, where access to affordable publishing solutions can be limited. I assist diaspora authors by helping them navigate the complexities of the publishing industry, providing them with the tools to share their unique stories and experiences globally.
Additionally, I am deeply involved in promoting digital literacy within the publishing sector. As the industry evolves, I support clients in adopting digital platforms to publish and distribute their work, expanding their reach to a broader, often global audience. This involves helping them understand the nuances of digital publishing, from e-books to online marketing and distribution strategies.
In addition to my work in publishing and consultancy, I collaborate with upcoming illustrators, providing them opportunities to contribute to children's books and other publications. This partnership helps bring stories to life through vibrant and engaging visuals and offers these illustrators a platform to grow and showcase their talents. By working with emerging illustrators, I aim to nurture local artistic talent and create visually captivating content that complements the impactful narratives we produce, particularly in early learning storybooks. This also aligns with our goal of making literature more engaging and accessible for children.
My work spans publishing, consultancy, and advocacy, focusing on empowering underrepresented voices, promoting education through SDG-centered children's literature, and facilitating access to publishing resources for African authors in the diaspora and underserved communities.
