Radio Dialogue was founded in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second largest city, in 2001. Our slogan ‘Giving You a Voice’ expresses our aim to enable the people of Bulawayo to speak to each other. We strive to ensure that the people of Bulawayo hear the voices, not only of the rich and the powerful, but also of the women who sell tomatoes on street corners. Radio Dialogue is a community radio station for t

he entire Bulawayo community, transmitting the voices of the old and young, different language groups, ethnic groups and those of different religious affiliations. We do this in an effort to enhance community relations in Bulawayo, and to promote understanding and tolerance between those of differing backgrounds, beliefs and interests. Radio is a powerful medium – more accessible than television; we can listen to radio when at home cooking, while traveling, even while working. It is more accessible than newspapers, enabling people to express themselves in the way they do it best – through the spoken word. The present government of Zimbabwe is afraid of allowing its citizens to exercise freedom of speech. The only daily newspapers, radio and TV stations in the country are state controlled.

Today, May 25, 2017, is Africa Day.
The African Union (AU), then called the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) was formed on this day in 1963.
The AU was created to promote unity and solidarity amongst African states.
Africa still faces a myriad of challenges - civil war, famine, poverty, unemployment among others but the day seeks to celebrate unity and diversity.

According to a Zimbabwe Visitor Exit Survey (VES) Report for the year 2015/2016, 43.2 percent of visitors to Zimbabwe said they would not come back due to harassment by police while 63.2 percent indicated high prices of goods and services were a deterrent.
“There is need to address the issue of high pricing in the destination since it has made Zimbabwe uncompetitive in the region.Reasons for negative perceptions are harassment by police, immigrations and customs. In order to retain the reputation of Zimbabwe being hospitable nation, there is a new continuous training of frontline personnel who interact with visitors creating the first and last impressions on the destinations such as immigration, customs and police,” the report recommended.
The report survey was unpacked by in Bulawayo Tuesday by the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry.

Why it’s fake, so we don’t obliviously continue spreading articles like these to our WhatsApp friends:

First, All 3 paragraphs are way too long and clearly written by someone who has challenges constructing english sentences. No editor, even at the local newspapers, would let such stuff through to publication.

It’s alarmist. Why would the RBZ want to alarm anyone? In fact, the fear from pessimists is that the RBZ would naturally try to make things look normal event when there’s reason for alarm.

The grammar and capitalisation of things is off. E.g. “…Apex Bank Governor said Cash crisis…”

That link to the Herald is fake, and you don’t have to click on it to see. The Herald website just doesn’t have links structured that way.

An article about the introduction of new Bond Notes and new restrictions on international cards, that is going viral on social media today is fake. It’s especially going viral on WhatsApp and you have probably received it already.

YOUTHS in Bulawayo’s Nketa 9 suburb are complaining of being excluded on the constituency’s developmental issues, a situation they said threatens to influence them not to take part on the forthcoming 2018 watershed elections.

They cautioned that there is need for platform to be provided that will facilitate interaction amongst them where they will be discussing issues affecting them.

A youth, Sukoluhle Ncube, expressed disappointment over their leaders who she said are showing signs of being indifferent to their needs and to changing and bettering their lives in so far as development is concerned.

“I believe development begins at community level but we are sidelined when these issues are tackled. How will we take part in national issues if we are excluded in local meetings,” she said.

Ncube said they are in most instances discouraged to attend meetings organised for residents.

ZIMBABWE continues to register a decline in both HIV and AIDS prevalence and incident rates, the Bulawayo City Council’s department of Health Services has reported.

According to the recent council report, the trend is attributed to the immense contributions by different stakeholders in the national response to HIV and AIDS.

Voluntary Male Medical Circumcision (VMMC) was noted was one of the major as a key component of HIV prevention in the country.

“Zimbabwe took a further step in consolidating these gains by introducing VMMC as another HIV prevention intervention to complement already existing interventions,” read the report

BCC said since the VMMC programme inception in 2009, the country has continued to scale up this intervention in all provinces towards a target of 1.3 million by 2018.

The national annual target for 2017 was 322 436 male circumcisions. The Bulawayo target by 2017 since inception was 88 760 and by December 2016, more than 80 000 of the overall target had since been circumcised.

AGRICULTURAL Marketing Authority (AMA) says goats are in high demand in international markets hence Matabeleland goat farmers should capitalise to generate forex for their produce.

A member of AMA, Martin Maphosa said goat farmers should aim for international markets to sell goat meat considering there is great demand at high prices internationally.

“Farmers in Matabeleland who are into goat farming should start capitalising in goat sales considering their market is intensively increasing internationally,” Maphosa.

He said Arabs import goat meat at a good price which can benefit most farmers.

“Demands for goats have significantly increased with Arabs importing goat meat in huge quantities offering a good price for it. Muslims use goat meat for their religious practises hence the high demand in Arabic countries,” he said.

Maphosa said Zimbabwe can export goat meat to Angola at good prices.
