Economic Justice is not just about financial resources it is about ensuring that every person can live with dignity, respect, and equality.

We echo the powerful words of Yollander Millin, who reminds us:

“Economic Justice means addressing GBV and promoting equality, dignity and respect for all. Let's work together towards a just society.”

During , this message could not be more urgent.
Gender-Based Violence (GBV) does not only harm individuals it affects families, workplaces, and the economic wellbeing of entire communities. Ending GBV is essential to building a fair, thriving, and inclusive society.

Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we stand in solidarity with women and girls everywhere.

Violence offline and online remains one of the most pervasive human rights violations. According to UN Women nearly 1 in 3 women experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime, and every 10 minutes, a woman or girl is killed by someone she knows.

This year’s campaign shines a light on a growing threat: digital abuse. Online violence is silencing women especially journalists, activists, and public voices, enabled by weak regulation, anonymity, and fast-evolving forms of tech-driven abuse.

We join the call for stronger protections, accountability, and safe digital spaces for all women and girls.

Matpulse, in partnership with Zambezi Eco Sprouts, today held a community dialogue in Mpopoma, Bulawayo to unpack climate change, listen to lived experiences, exchange best practices, and co-create local solutions for adaptation and mitigation as the farming season begins.

Community members emphasized that climate change is no longer abstract — it is real, visible, and affecting daily life. Participants highlighted several growing challenges, including: Flooding rains, intense heat waves and unpredictable weather patterns. Many also shared that traditional seasons are becoming difficult to identify, summer, autumn, winter, and spring no longer follow predictable rhythms.

Urban farmers reported reduced yields compared to previous years, underscoring the need for climate-smart agriculture and adaptive strategies. About a quarter of participants noted they are practicing conservation farming methods such as Intwasa, which has resulted in better yields. Others shared that they still rely on traditional methods, often having to plant multiple times due to crop loss from scorching heat. In some cases, farmers now plant in stages because farming has become unpredictable almost a gamble.

Participants also learnt about the aeroponic farming system, conservation farming techniques like Intwasa, and the importance of diversifying crops with small grains to ensure a harvest. There was strong interest in exploring these methods further, particularly aeroponics, which many found appealing because it requires very little land and uses less water. This dialogue reinforced the importance of community-led solutions, knowledge sharing, and climate-resilient farming practices to safeguard livelihoods and strengthen local resilience.
