Activity Report:

Yesterday, June 17, 2025, the Ministry of Youth,Young people from Hatcliffe in collaboration with Yet Trust, supported a Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) committee selection activity under the project "Safe and Inclusive Cities" at Friendship High School in Hatcliffe. The objective of this activity was to establish a DRR committee that will work closely with the community to prevent disasters before they occur.

Key Highlights:

- The selection process aimed to identify and empower community members to take proactive measures in disaster risk reduction.
- The committee will play a crucial role in enhancing community resilience and promoting a culture of safety and preparedness.

Attendance:

- A representative from the local government was present to provide oversight and support.
- The District Officer (DO) from Harare City Council, Mrs. Majangara, attended the event, highlighting the council's commitment to disaster risk reduction initiatives.
- Civil society organizations and community members actively participated in the selection process.

Outcome:

The successful selection of the DRR committee marks a significant step towards building a safer and more resilient community in Hatcliffe. The committee will work tirelessly to identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the well-being and safety of community members.
