HARARE regional magistrate Estere Chivasa has sentenced apostolic faith leader Madzibaba Ishmael Chokurongerwa to 20 years imprisonment for ra**ng and impregnating a minor.

In her sentence, Chivasa noted that there was severe psychological trauma and fear inflicted on the complainant.

Scenes from the funeral of Nicholas Zakaria in Chiweshe, Mashonaland Central, where he will be laid to rest today.

The sungura kingpin died on Thursday at the age of 69 after a long battle with diabetes and hypertension.

Born in Mazowe, Zakaria was central to the formation of Khiama Boys in 1984, a group that became a training ground for some of sungura’s biggest names, including System Tazvida and Alick Macheso.

The band produced enduring hits such as Mabhauwa and Ruregerero.

After the group’s original lineup split, Zakaria pursued a solo career, releasing more than 20 albums and cementing his status as one of the genre’s most influential figures.
