The opposition CCC says the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) should extend the current voter registration blitz beyond the 30 April 2022 deadline.

In an interview with Newzimbabwe.com CCC Bulawayo provincial spokesperson Swithern Chirowodza said the voter registration blitz period is too short and people eager to be registered will be left out.

The Matabeleland region risks losing several constituencies and wards during the delimitation exercise to be done in August due to the low number of registered voters.

Chirowodza noted a daily increase in the number of people who want to be registered as voters hence ending the programme on 30 April will leave a lot of people out. He said:

_The 30 April 2022 Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) blitz deadline will not help matters for Bulawayo._

_There is a need to station BVR Kiosks in all of Bulawayo high density and low suburbs._

_Bulawayo residents have been conscientised of the importance of BVR and its bearing on the forthcoming ZEC delimitation exercise._

_This is evidenced by the ever-increasing number of registrants we are recording daily._

_For example, 200 people registered to vote at a ZEC tent in Njube-Lobengula on 21 April. ZEC has also set up four tents in other suburbs._

_This is a big improvement from the last blitz which ended when people were just getting to know the importance of voter registration._

_Instead of suspending the blitz ZEC should actually go to the communities and assist other stakeholders who are encouraging citizens to register to vote._

Several homes, a school, and roads were destroyed by a hailstorm in Nkayi District last week.

Government officials are struggling to assess the extent of the damage caused by heavy rains that began on Wednesday due to inaccessibility and lack of telephone coverage.

The hailstorm reportedly caused the collapse of a classroom block at Jabulisa Secondary School.

The storm also killed livestock such as goats, sheep and poultry.

Moyo advised affected villagers to find safe places to live until they receive help from the Government. He said:

_For now, we would like to advise them to stay indoors until we find a way to access them._

_We are still not sure about the extent of the damage, but soon we will be there to assist those families._

Meanwhile, Civil Protection Unit acting director Nathan Nkomo said he was not aware of the destruction of infrastructure in Nkayi.

*ARREST OF AARON FRANSISCO MACHONA FOR ARMED ROBBERY CASES AND MURDER IN HARARE.*

_The Zimbabwe Republic Police has nabbed a notorious armed robbery suspect Aaron Fransisco Machona (37) for committing a series of armed robbery cases in Harare from December 2021 to April 2022._

_The suspect would operate alone while targeting cash or electrical accessories and would fire to subdue identified victims._

_On 9th December 2021 at about 0200 hours, the suspect stormed a house in Uplands Waterfalls, Harare and captured two complainants while armed with a pistol and wearing a balaclava._

_He stole property worth US$4 160 and drove away in the complainant’s silver BMW 318 vehicle (ACW 4417)._

_On 30th January 2022, the suspect invaded another home along Ruwa Avenue Waterfalls, Harare where he attacked a couple whom he threatened to shoot with a pistol before he fired one shot on the roof._

_The suspect later ran away after noticing some light rays filtering through the room before stealing anything._

_On 9th March 2022, the suspect who was armed with an unidentified pistol while covering his face with a balaclava, stormed another house in Uplands Waterfalls, Harare through an unlocked door and attacked three occupants while demanding cash._

_The complainants surrendered US$60-00, Itel 16 and Huawei cellphones, however, the suspect kept on demanding more cash while assaulting one of the complainants (78), all over the body with a stick._

Recalled Hwange Central legislator Daniel Molokele (MDC Alliance), has opened a new law firm in the coal-mining town.

Molokele had promised Hwange residents during his 2018 election campaign that he will give them a voice in the justice system.

The new law firm named Molokele Law Chambers officially opened its doors on 1 April.

Molokele’s spokesperson, Thulani Moyo, said that Molokele Law Chambers will handle criminal labour, and civil and debt collection cases. Said Moyo:

_The genesis of the vision was the fulfilment of an election promise after the local community cried that they do not have a local law firm run by a bonafide Hwange resident._

_We will be an all-around legal practice dealing in civil law, labour law, criminal cases, debt collection and family law._

_It will also motivate and promote those locals who have ambitions to become lawyers by assisting in their endeavours._

Moyo added that the law firm will offer services to all people irrespective of their political affiliation.

Molokele, a lawyer by profession, was recalled from Parliament in February this year by the MDC-T for allegedly siding with CCC.

The couple’s marriage was solemnised on 21 June 2013, in terms of the Marriages Act Chapter 5:11.

In her summons for divorce, Nyasha claims their marriage had no prospects of them getting back together.

She is applying for a decree of their divorce, an order of maintenance for her two minor children and their custody. She said:

_The defendant (Oscar is required) to pay a monthly contribution of US$100 per child and continue paying school fees for both minor children._

_An order for custody, in favour of the applicant (Nyasha), with Oscar having access during weekends from Friday 1600hrs to Sunday 1200hrs._

Nyasha reveals that she and Oscar have been separated for over a year and that she has lost love and affection for the self-styled prophet.

This is the second time that Nysha is pushing for a divorce after initially summoning Oscar in 2019.

The helicopter that ferried comedienne Mai TT, real name Felistas Murata, to her wedding in Chisipite on Saturday crashed on Sunday, killing the pilot.

In a Facebook post this Monday, Mai TT said she called the owner of the helicopter who confirmed the crash after receiving calls from several people asking about the incident. She wrote:

_Just this morning people called me saying your pilot crashed and passed away soon after dropping me, I’m thinking it’s just false rumours._

_I’m calling the owner of the Helicopters I booked from he confirmed it’s true he crashed and died the next day on Sunday as he was coming from picking up another client._

_I don’t know him I just booked for Chikopokopo services and when I went on board he opened the door for me saluted and said I’m honoured to be taking you to your big day_

_Becky called at the same time and said can you delay coming to the venue by 20 minutes? He said no ma’am, I got to take you now because a dark cloud is coming was this the dark cloud he meant? I’m traumatized right now._

_My brother I don’t know what to say, may your soul Rest In Peace and thank you even if I don’t know you personally for the hospitality you gave me those few minutes I knew you._

Speaking in a recent interview with OpenParly, Dubeko Sibanda said CCC MPs will hold the Government to account and ensure that things are done the proper way. He said:

_People were having challenges with oversight, over government departments in our communities. For example, if any government department was not doing things in a manner that they are supposed to be done people had nobody to resort to, but now with the MPs back it is easy to say to a government depart why are you not doing things in the proper way it is supposed to be done._

_So, oversight is going to be seen again, representativeness is going to happen again. We know that Parliament had virtually become a circus immediately after the recalls to an extent that it had become a place of gentlemen’s agreement where ZANU PF and the other party were all agreeing and moving together without considering the will of the people._

Tendai Biti, the deputy vice president of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) was this Monday arrested in Glendale but was later released without charge.

His CCC party claimed this Monday that the former Finance and Economic Development Minister was taken to Harare Central Police Station and was later taken to Rhodesville Police Station after his arrest at Letombo Spar in Greendale.

The party said Biti was on a “meet and greet” as he campaigns for MP ahead of March 26 by-election. Said CCC in a statement:

Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) issued a statement that supported reports by the CCC. Said the lawyers:

Human rights lawyer is currently detained at Harare Central Police Station after he was arrested by while at Letombo Spar in Msasa Harare.

ZLHR in an update said Biti had been moved to Rhodesville Police Station from Harare Central Police Station.

The lawyers later reported that Biti had been released without charge. Said ZLHR in a statement:
