Today we celebrate our alumna Ropafadzo Mapira, founder of sustainable fashion brand Soleil, as she prepares to represent Zimbabwe at Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) 2026, taking place at 8 Northumberland Avenue and the British Council Headquarters. Ropafadzo is one of only two Zimbabwean women selected for this year's British Council Creative DNA programme, marking the second year running that Zimbabwean designers have graced this prestigious stage. Since launching Soleil in 2023, she has built a brand rooted in identity and sustainability, transforming recycled materials and found objects into garments that carry story, memory, and meaning. This is what happens when African creativity meets purpose: talent turns into a career, and passion turns into a platform. We are cheering you on every step of the way, Ropafadzo!!

We were deeply honoured to welcome a representative from the Australian Embassy, Zimbabwe to our Women Animate Program last week. Their visit was a meaningful moment for our cohort of talented women animators, an opportunity to share their creative journeys, exchange ideas, and reflect on how far the program has come. The Austrian Embassy has been a steadfast partner in this journey, generously supporting the program with equipment and technical resources that continue to empower our participants to bring their stories to life. Having their team engage directly with the ladies, listening to their experiences and celebrating their progress, reaffirmed the power of genuine partnership in building Zimbabwe's creative and tech ecosystem.

We are profoundly grateful for the Austrian Embassy's continued support and belief in the potential of African women storytellers. Here's to many more collaborations that amplify African voices and African stories.

Proud to have stood behind yesterday's Vertical Storytelling Masterclass , a bold step forward for African storytelling as we embrace Micro Drama and the digital age.
