Even in 2025, games centred on Black and African stories are labelled as "pushing an agenda", and in some cases, the presence of black skin in video games is seen as something ugly.
Take Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, a game rooted in Bantu myths. Instead of being celebrated for showcasing African heritage, it was branded as "woke."

What do you think is the issue? As African and black gamers, should we care about representation or be "colour-blind"? Is it the best way to enjoy games?

We are thrilled to welcome Patrick Miller to the EarthSonic Climate Advisory Board!

Patrick, a passionate gamer, playwright and researcher from Zimbabwe, is dedicated to using gaming as a force for social change. As the founder of The Gaming Hub zw, he’s pioneered local game development and empowered marginalised communities in climate activism through innovative gaming initiatives. With a Master’s in Public Advocacy and Activism, Patrick bridges research and creative arts to foster impactful social change.

Through projects like Gaming for the Planet and Q***ring Climate Change, Patrick is redefining how gaming can open vital climate action discussions within marginalised communities and promote intersectionality in climate justice. In 2022, he created Zimbabwe’s first Q***r Literary Arts Symposium, harnessing art’s power to elevate marginalised voices.

The Climate Advisory Board plays a crucial role in providing guidance, insights and expertise to the EarthSonic project. With visionary activists, artists, and committed individuals like Patrick, the board strengthens our mission and impact.
