I've known Kingstone Zimunya since 2021, the year Untold ZW became a thing. At the time he stood out to me primarily for two reasons. He was building a media platform solely focused on Zimbabwean Fashion - you may have heard of it, it's called Mcheno n More. I love outliers and this was as OUTLIER as it gets for me. The second reason is quite simple - I admire builders, people who make sacrifices to create the world they think should exist and Kingstone fit both boxes. I instantly took a liking to him and we've been incredibly close ever since.
Last year was a big year for Mcheno n More as they transitioned from bringing people together in the digital space by way of content to bringing people together in the real world by way of events - i.e Thrift n Threads. This was a huge leap for Kingstone and his team - one that I admired and eventually wanted to document.
Between October 8 and December 6 2025(when the 3rd iteration of Thrift n Threads was hosted) I interviewed Kinsgtone and his partners on multiple occasions with view to tell his story, the Mcheno n More story, and better understand what it takes to bring such an event to life.
In November my phone got stolen and we lost a significant amount of footage but we still managed to salvage the situation based on some of the clips I had backed up already and the footage captured afterwards. That became the 5 minute documentary you see today!
Kingstone has been one of Zimbabwean Fashion's foremost allies and I can't wait to see where he goes next! #
